Why? the only two I could use in Ohio was 20g or .22lr, everything else was bow and arrow! My apologies to the OP!
Your 45 ACP and 38 Special are both legal for deer handgun season if they have a five inch or longer barrel (and rifle if you have a carbine chambered in them). I have killed a lot of groundhog with the 22 WMR when I lived in Ohio. I have killed a lot of ground hogs with a lot bigger center-fire rifles in Ohio too. 7mm Rem Mag is quite the groundhog killer. With Ohio allowing straight wall cartridges for deer hunting you have quite a number of new cartridges you could use if they interest you.
Not a very long list for me (yet). .22 Short .22 LR .22 Magnum .38 Special .357 Magnum 9mm .223/5.56 .308/7.62x51 7.62x39 7.62x54r .30-06 12 gauge That's it for now, but I'd like to add the following in the future: .45 ACP 10mm .45-70 7.62x25 300 Blackout 6.5 Creedmore 300 Win Mag .30 Carbine .303 Brit 9x18mm Maybe: .40 S&W and .357 Sig if I get a Glock 22 or 23 with a .357 Sig conversion barrel .45 Colt if I ever decide to get a SAA in the caliber it was made for!
Hummm, interesting thread. So far I have the following: 22LR 22 Short 380 38 Special 38 S&W 9mm Mak 9mm Parabellum 357 Mag 40 S&W 44 Special 44 Mag 45 Auto Rim 45 ACP 45 LC 454 Casull 500 S&W 10mm 7.62x25 Tok 223/5.56 30 Carbine 300 Savage 30-30 303 30-06 6.5 CM 7.5x55 Swiss 7.62/308 7.62x39 7.62x54r 12 Ga 75 Caliber Black Powder Ball
.22s are very addictive, especially once you find one you like. Its hard not to want to try them all. I would go so far as to say that .22s will be getting the job done long after I am gone.
I agree. Tween rifles, revolvers and pistols I have a dozen or so. I’ve never owned one chambered for anything other than 22LR. My Ruger Mk2 and S&W 41 see the most use.
