Hmph. The answer for me is, "Many." Especially since I take my competitive shooting seriously...which means a backup for every event. And I'm shooting International Muzzle-Loading, ISSF pistol, North-South Skirmish Association, and NRA Bullseye matches.

I own many more than I did five years ago, mostly because of the political situation. Living in CA means that if I want a gun that I see for sale at market value, I'd better buy it - I may never see another, and prices keep rising. I am currently satisfied with my collection, as I have a gun for every interest and an interest for every gun. I'm a shooter, on occasion a varminter, not really a hunter. My most recent additions were a variety of .22lr (a bolt-action youth, a M&P 15-22, a Buckmark, a Marlin 881, and a Ruger SP-101) for the grandkids to enjoy with me. Paid for all of those with two Glocks that did not fit my interests.

More than I can conveniently carry in one trip out my front door.

I didn't tell my mom when she asked, I'm not telling you either. :)

I'm in the 51-100 category, closer to the 100 end of the spectrum. I'll keep buying them until President Clinton says I can't anymore!

When someone asks that I usually tell them that I have my trap gun, my deer gun and the one in my pocket. Then I ask how much money they have. Just as much my business as my stuff is theirs.

If it offends you so much, why reply?

Believe it or not "gun people" on gun forums like to talk about guns. This also happens in real life.

As a former Firearms Instructor of mine once told us to say when asked that question, "Just a few".

You should have asked how many safes full of guns we have or added a zero or two to the high numbers.;) I was in the gun of the month club for a lot of years when the income allowed it. Might/should have purchased rental properties instead but that would not have provided as much fun over the years.:D

My answer to this question has changed dramatically over the years. Back when i was single and Uncle Sam gave me room and board, I was a member of our unofficial "gun-a-month" club. Some months i bought a nice gun, sometimes I'd spent to much on booze or women and all i bought was a clunker. But at the end of my enlistment I had a very sizable collection. The real junker was a hacked up Enfield. The nicest was a shotgun given by Elvis Presley to Tom Parker. The most interesting to me was a Liberator .45ACP. I spent the next decade or so selling unwanted or unused guns to upgrade the ones I planned to keep. I'm down to a few dozen now, but they are decent guns that meet my perceived needs.

15 is a big number but I might just get there, on the other hand 6 is also acceptable especially if we see ammo prices get worse.

Remind me to refuse if some of you guys offer me a boat ride. It looks like a high percentage of you can't operate a boat worth a damn.

I sure can't. I've lost count of how many boats I've sunk.

More than none; far less than "enough."
Not only that, but the list for what might be "enough' continues to ebb and flow.
