Of course it depends on the caliber (expense) but I generally shoot between 50-100 rounds. If it's a rifle then usually <50 if it's a .22 usually 100>.

Depends what I'm doing.

Bringing out the .22s? IDK, a few hundred rounds.

Testing out some reloads? Maybe a hundred or two. (20-40 reloads/rifle and some .22 while I wait for barrels to cool.)

Of course it depends on the caliber (expense)
And caliber (recoil).

Me and the kids with .22LRs might go through 300 rounds before we even notice. SD handgun calibers, probably 50-100 rounds before I start losing concentration. Same with service rifle.

If it's a dangerous-game thumper, 20 rounds is usually a day. Maybe 10 rounds is.

So: how much do you typically shoot per range session, and WHY?
Having two ranges on my ground, and being retired I shoot 5 or 6 days a week.
Sometimes several times a day and sometimes a few evenings a week. I shoot lasers and laser/lights in low light/dark.
Recently when I bought a Ruger LC9 I put over a thousand rounds through it in the first 8 days.

Unless I'm teaching someone to shoot or friends are shooting with me I seldom shoot over a couple hundred rounds at a time. Except 22. I'll shoot pocket fulls of 22LR at a time.

Because I like to shoot.
AND because I like to stay proficient.

Whoops... didn't see the "per gun" until after I pushed the go button. My 101-200 is per session, not per gun per session.

Many of my range sessions are competitions so 200+ rounds isn't uncommon.

With 22's I don't really count.

With shotguns just busting clays its easy to go through a case of 200 target loads.

With centerfire pistols it might be a box or two. Depends on what I am shooting.

I shoot on my lunch break at least twice per week, so I bring in 3 boxes each time. I get through it in about 30-40 minutes and then back to work. I keep an ammo bin and range bag in the car a generally shoot just the EDC on my hip.

well today 3 guys managed to shoot through 750 12 ga shells in 3.5 hours, 250 .223 in an hour and a brick of .22 bullets sittin on a tail gate with a bunch of empty cans at 25 yards

Like some others said “it depends”.

Today I went through about 250 rds; 200 through my PPQ and about 50 through my PPS. I also own my own range (0-500 yards) and had 4 guys from work out today and we spent close to 3 hrs. shooting IDPA COFs and running drills.

Because I have my place, very seldom will I shoot more than 1-2 guns at a time unless I’m going to shoot handguns then back up for some rifle practice. I’ll normally go through 50-100 rds at a time a couple times a week. Some sessions I’ll just walk around with 20-30 rds of rifle and shoot swingers at different distances.

It used to be I’d pack up 3-4 guns and hundreds of rounds for a marathon range session, now things are much simpler.

Depends on the purpose of the trip. If it's just a plinking session with friends, I tend to shoot fewer rounds than usual because I'm too busy talking with my friends.

If it's a pistol practice session, then it's usually about 110-ish rounds: One run through the Dot Torture Drill and five or so El Presidentés.

Round count...

...for my range trips are never very high. I went today(3/10/12) and only shot 60 rounds. I shot five guns but I was raceing dark the whole time. Never got to the last three. :( I hate to take 'em on a field trip and then not let 'em out of the range bag! :D

I'd guess I average 200 centerfire handgun rounds everytime I shoot. I'm not going to waste my time/gas to just go out and fire a cylinder or two full.

Today was 200 rounds of full power 357 mag to break in a brand new M686P, lots of foot movement while firing on two IDPA targets.

Since the third week in January, 2550 center fire pistol/revolver rounds, most of it handloads at factory velocities.

38 Super - 1550
45 auto - 700
10mm - 100
357 mag - 200

Just enjoy handloading and shooting, plus the German Shepherd loves going to the range. :)

Shooting 10-20 rounds out of a gun to me is waste of time, as in the cleaning I have to do afterwards. I generally take 2-3 guns out at a time and will go through 50-100 for each. Unless we're talking .22. Then I'll go through 200+ of .22

If I am shooting pistols for defensive training, which is what I'm normally doing, I have found a training program that uses exactly 50 rounds.
If Target shooting with pistols, less than that.
If I am plinking with a .22, I've been known to go through 500+.
If sighting in my slug gun for the season, I try to keep it to less than 5. Those suckers are expensive!

I have a backyard range I shoot my .22 in quite frequently. Low round counts but usually at least 50-100 rds.

If I'm actually going "out" to shoot with friends, it becomes a big event. Most of my friends only have one gun, so I tend to bring extras. We do this about once a month, but we're not too regular about it.

On a usual outing, I'll bring one of my two mosins (50-100rds), my 870 12g (300+ rds), my carry gun XD9 (200-300rds), and my "sometimes" carry gun S&W 637 (25-50rds). I mix it up, but these are the usual playmates.

I tend to push my limits with the XD since it is my carry gun. I like to shoot it at mid-ranges (50-75yds) as opposed to close ranges(<50yds), since it is more challenging. We dont have too many places that go out to 100+yds or the rifles would get more attention.

Someone said they shoot more in the winter than the summer. It is reversed for me. In the winter, we are limited by the sunlight. In the summer, I end up 4wheelin way out in the middle of nowhere, and there is always a good place to stop and shoot a few mags.

I start off with a 555 Win bulk pack of .22s and put that through a couple pistols to warm up. Then out come the centerfires and the reloads. I will go through 400-500 of these easily. If I feel the need I bring the MAC 10 and may go through 3K letting others zip through those 30 round MAGs at 2-3 per person.:D I just make them load their own MAGs and pick up the spent brass they fire so I can reload it again.

Depends on why I went to the range. 51-100 if it's just me sighting something in or checking a load. 500+ if I've brought family or friends out to get some range time. Good thing I reload!

as many as my stockpile allows. i have a predertermined amount of ammo i want to keep for each firearm/caliber i own.
i know it sounds a little "quirky", but ive always been that way.

My trips to the indoor range, since it's close by, tend to be proficiency maintenance and load testing. I can get there in about 15 minutes and don't have to pay for a block of time, so I don't feel pressure to shoot a lot of rounds to make the trip worthwhile. On a typical visit I'll put 25-30 through my carry gun and anywhere from 6 to 30 through one or two others.

When I go to the rifle range, it's a dedicated afternoon, so I take 3-5 rifles and plan for as many rounds as it takes to accomplish the purpose. I probably have never put more than 15 per session through any centerfire rifle other than .223 Rem. I'll shoot .22 until I get tired of loading mags.

I probably average in the 51-100 range so that's what I voted although I vary often from less than 50 to over 300
