i don't have a deer rifle, so i suck.

it has been a slow year, i haven't shot as much rifle as i wanted to, i have been focusing mostly on handgun skills and training courses.
keep in mind i got back in the states in July of 08 so i didn't have all year to shoot.

1500rds in my ar.

600rds in my ak.

One. And I'm not particularly proud of that, I should practice with a rifle even though I am very familiar with it.

Limited centerfire shooting this year and a fair amount of rimfire shooting. My shooting goes in cycles.

I put a little over two hundred rounds through mine more out of necessity since it was my only centerfire rifle.

Dryfiring is cheaper though. I am leaving for a little impromptu shooting with my cousin, then we're heading to a...gasp...gun show for some beef jerky. Finally, if I like the gun he just bought before Christmas, I am heading over to Academy to get a $369 (after rebate) Remington 798.

Finally, this little rifle purchase project will be over.

Do slug guns count?

I am sure the OP will make an exception for you, but if you voted for more than a few boxes, I am going to take a weekend course in Chiropractery (sp?) and move to your town.

5-shots
2 to check my zero at 35 yards
3 fired offhand into a tennis ball sized group centered in the vitals on a deer target at 100 yards.
Wearing my full hunting gear, 20 degrees and windy out.
Good enough for the tamarack swamp I hunt in.

I don't shoot my deer rifle much anymore. All of my hunting these days is in thick swamp/woods. My off season practice is serious positional practice with my target .22 and High Power Competition.

Somewhere between 2-5 boxes, but most of it was birdshot. I only shot at targets.

I get most of my practice from dry-firing, and shooting .22s.

Voted formy primary deer rifle. After jan 1 become my primary coyote rifle.
My backup would be off the scale since its my SASS rifle.

Less than a box from my favorite deer rifle for me.

Luckily other rifles I did shoot are similar and experience with them translates.

I didn't shoot as much in 2008 as I planned to, however.

My AR (new deer rifle to) came just before hunting season, so i only have fired about 600rd through it for now. Rimfire on the other hand....

Recent years have seen more pistol shooting for me. It's the type of firearm I'm still newest with, still trying to master it. Plus, without a reloading rig, it's more affordable.

Didn't shoot to much this year, only a couple of boxes out of my 30-30 336, and about the same out of my .308 blr, but maybe 2500 .22lr rounds this year. Not the way I would like it to be, but the way it is.

I shoot most of my rifles year round, so I'm not sure how many round I fired through my deer rifle just practicing. I would say 50-60, and 2 more for the 2 deer I shot.

Considering that I have over a dozen 'deer rifles', I know I have not fired more than a box of shells through any one of them this year.

On the other hand, if you figure in that my M1A can, and has done duty in the field, then for that rifle, I have fired quite a bit of ammo. Just was not deer hunting ammo.

any one rifle or all total with all the rifle's I intend to use this year?

Either way I'm in the high end of the scale likely more than 20 but less than 50

It ain't over yet - I'm hunting tomorrow (very last day of deer gun season; special doe only hunt). But so far, not counting sight-in, I've fired 3 shots - 2 killed deers, and 1 at a tree to see if I was still sighted in.

If you count sighting in, then I dunno, but about 20-30 (3 rifles were sighted this year).

P.S. This would go a little better in the Hunting forum.

I have both a rifle (270Win--my third) and a slug gun (12ga my sixth).

Assuming the OP meant typical commercial 20 round rifle ammo boxes-50 boxes would be 1000 rounds.

I've fired 100 rounds from each gun, twice a month for almost 20 years.

I would consider one box (20rnd commercial) per month a bare minimum for anyone calling themselves a rifleman (4X25/month shells for a true shot gunner).

All my rifle ammo boxes are 100 round capacity-reloader! I don't use boxes for shells--just large mesh bags from REI-capacity about 130 rounds.

4 shots. 3 to make sure the scope was still zeroed for my load, 1 to take a doe for the freezer. Mississippi allows for many more, but I don't particularly like to go through the butchering process more than once a year.

I love my '06 Mountain Rifle. Its a great hunting tool and has done the job every year for 20 years except a few when I got skunked and didn't get a shot. Its not very pleasant to shoot though.

That's the main reason I'll be experimenting with the 6.8SPC Mini 14 next year. Hopefully it will be a fun rifle to shoot in general, and effective enough to take a deer or two next year.
