Whats the mose spare magazines or spare speedloaders you have? How many do you keep loaded?

The most spare magazines I have are four for my SIG 225. Only 1 is loaded

I have a total of six 17-rd mags for my G17, eleven 30-rd for my AR, and six 30-rd for an AK that I don't have yet. Of course, I live in a domino state -- wherever California goes, we're not far behind. Have to stock up before the bans come down.

I only keep one loaded for the G17.

P.S. Duh - just realized we're in handguns forum. Ignore the AR/AK stuff.

I usually keep 5 magazines per auto pistol. I base my decision on the typical duty carry which is three magazines and it's a good idea to have at least one for backup. Sure, we all think about another magazine ban, but as long as you don't lose your magazines, you can replace mag parts and have them repaired when needed(rarely happens).

As for rifles, I try to keep 7-10 on hand. The only reason I can think of needing more is if there was civil unrest. However, if I was in a civil unrest situation I will be more focused on moving to safe zones than fighting and taking 500rds worth of loaded magazines will not be very ideal when you are on foot. Doubtful you'll be able to go aware in a vehicle as we've learned from blocked roads in disasters. A lot of people get into the hording mentality and don't analyze logical responses to events.

I buy a minimum of 3 full capacity mags for each pistol. Usually I buy 6-12 if I can find a good deal. For rifles its a minimum of 12 full capacity mags for each rifle and once again 6-12 more if I can find a good deal. I also function test and shoot each mag at least once to ensure it will work. One major reason for the min per weapon is if there is another AWB. I even buy mags for weapons I haven't bought yet, but plan to buy in the future. Political dynamics could mean another AWB at any time. Make sure you have enough to last you and your weapon a lifetime.

Most of my handguns have between 3-8 spare mags. Depending on their location in the house, I keep either one or two loaded mags available in addition to the one already in the firearm.

Box car full per magazine type is ideal: http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~diggle01/box/bn/bn.html

However, more is better.

I have a large plastic tub from Walmart full of Glock 17 and 21 mags and two South African .223 cases full of 1911 mags. They are not all for me. Most are for those behind me.:)

I keep 7 1911 mags and 4 Kahr P9 (my bug) loaded, including the ones in the weapons.

6 1911 mags
4 G17 mags.

All are loaded.

I need to pick up a couple more G17 mags.

I usually try to have 3 for each semi-auto. That's enough for me. The Glock magazines are so cheap though that I'll probably buy some more;)

over 125 garand clips all loaded

WOW:eek: Someone is prepared for the (surely) coming zombie invasion:D

'Bout 15 of my 1911 magazines, 2x SIG P220A .45 caliber magazines, 4x
Springfield XD-45 ACP magazines, 2x Kahr CW-9 magazines, 2x- 30 rd
M4 magazines, 2x 13 round SIG P228 magazines, 3x 8 round Smith &
Wesson model 39-2 magazines, 2x 20 round Ruger Mini-14 magazines.

And, that reminds me I need to pick up a few extra Kel-Tec P3AT magazines~! ;)

at least five (not all necessarily the same) on anything I carry or plan to use for SD - AR, AK, Glocks, Kahr, 1911 all have at least 5 mags

I keep 3 loaded magazines for all my pistols.
As for total magazines, I have 3 for my P3AT, 4 for my MK9, and 7 for my P-01 & my wife's PCR.

How many spares?

You can never have enough spares. I don't feel complete unless I have at least six.

I doubled my collection of HP mags when I won a Gunbroker auction for a MKII BHP that came with fifteen magazines:

I have 5 for my XD 9 and 3 for my Ruger MkIII. I'm planning on picking up 2 more for my XD so I can keep two loaded at all times for SD and use the rest for competition (IDPA or USPSA).

Well for now i only have 3 15 round mag for my G22(ive got 3 mag for my 9mm
and a box 0f 357 for my Rugger security six,and three boxes of shells of 00 buck, and two boxes of slugs. But i know i need more ammo,Oh ive got 1,200 rounds for the Ak-47,but will be getting more latter.Yes i need to buy more mags for my 40 and more ammo for all my weapons, but i will get there in time

That breaks my heart Tom, I'm the guy on Gunbroker going "Yeah I don't mind the shipping fee, but you'll have to keep the mags, cuz I can't have them in my @#$%! state."

I have 4 for all my semi autos and 2 speed loaders for the revolvers. All of which are loaded to the max.

I've been an IPSC and Bullseye competitor with 1911 type .45ACP pistols for over 30 years. When I see good mags at a good price I buy them . . . just in case.

A few years ago I was going on an extended vacation and got all the loaded guns and mags together for storage, and unloaded all the mags and put them with the "spare mags" and counted. As I recall, there were over 70 1911 type .45ACP mags.

I haven't purchased any more since!

oh geez-

for the ARs i have probably 12-15 30 rounders, i leave em loaded, cause im lazy and it saves me time. i just grab 3-4 and hit the range.

the most mags for a pistol is my 1911- i have 8 or 9. . . i forget. probably 8. all loaded. it just works for me.
