how many use a hand priming tool.

Lee Auto prime. On ammo loaded with the Dillon progressive loaders, I sometimes go back and reseat with the Lee if they "feel" like the need reseating.

thanks for the replies. i have a dillon 550b, i still like to hand prime. it takes a whille to load primer tubes. i can hand prime about as fast. i am not worried about speed. i also have a lee cct press and an rcbs progressive. i hand prime when i use anyof the presses. i have been a member here for a while, i just do not talk much, i just read. i stay out of trouble that way. thanks. scooter=2

I tried using the priming tool on my Lee press, and didn't feel comfortable doing it. Since then I have used the Lee auto prime and feels much better. It is much easier to feel if the primer isn't seating correctly for some reason.

I never graduated up from my Rock Chucker, my volume has never justified spending more money on a progressive. I never got the hang of the on-press attachment that came with my reloading kit and quickly upgraded to a RCBS hand priming tool and never looked back. I must not be the only one to not like the on-press set up because new RCBS kits come with the hand priming tool.

I really have no other option as I've been using a hand press. The hand primer works well enough. Its sad that I've spent nearly a grand on reloading and I'm still using a hand press. I think my priorities are all wrong :(

primer tool preferance

i use a lee auto prime i get a better feel when they are seated also if their is a problem with the primer out to far you cant remove it from the shell holder . i used the installer that came with my rockchucker but it was a pain . it's slower but i find you make fewer mistake's that way. :)

I am new to hand loading and have a LCT with priming attachments. After maybe 50 rounds of loading on the press I bought a hand primer and haven't looked back.

:evil:I do all of my priming with Lee hand primers. I have one each set up for small and large primers. I just change the shell holder when necessary. I like to feel the primer seat and if I have a loose or tight primer pocket,I can feel it right away.I do not have a progressive press and don't feel I need one.:)

I've used my Lee Auto Prime hand primer (the old round one) for the last 23 years. Works great for all calibers (handgun & rifle), and like most others have stated, I can feel the primer and check it manually before moving on.

Hornady hand priming tool all the way for all calibers- just did not like the Lee safety prime on my Lee turret press, or the feel of priming on the press. Then again I do not need high production volumes so hand priming remains an enjoyable way to feel the primers positively seating as they should.

I use the Lee XR. Easier for me and acts as a final QC for the brass.

I use a Lee hand primer. The volume of loading I do isn't that large. I'll sit and watch TV while I prime 100 rounds every now and then. ;)

I use the Lee Ram Prime and I have no problems with it.

I can feel the primers being seated, I can inspect each case after being primed, and it isn't too terribly slow, once you get a feel for it. Of course, I only do about 1k-2k rounds/year so a little extra time to do it the way I prefer, even if it is a bit slow, is perfectly acceptable to me.

And I don't watch TV so, for me, there's no advantage to the hand primers there. :D

I hand prime, too... after the first 20 or so caps landed on the floor from what I know now was an ill-positioned Lee Safety Prime, I got a hand primer and it's actually much easier for me, and like others, allows me to more closely inspect each case.

Lee hand primers

Been using these for 30 years and love them for a reason, I can feel exactly how well the primer seats and I can tell when its time to scrap brass for loose pockets, Results from hand priming are so much more consistent.
Sure its faster to auto feed them on progressives but I cant feel that primer seat.
I'm staying with hand priming, not about to change after 30 plus years! Never had a FTF in all the thousands of rounds loaded.

I'm still using the old original Lee hand primer with the screw in shell holders .I like it.hdbiker
