How much Bullseye?

Need some advice from you .45 ACP pros. Just bought 500 bullets from Valiant Bullet Co. (160 gr. lead SWC) sized .452. At present, haven't been able to find any info from the usual sources as to how much Bullseye can be safely used in this light a lead bullet. Many of my books from Speer, Nosler, Hornady, etc. show bullet weights of 155-160 for various powders, but believe they are strictly jacketed bullets, not LSWC.

Have always used Bullseye for my .38 wadcutters and light .40 S&W, but am only now going for my .45 ACP and want to continue using this powder as I have found it to be excellent for my needs. So if anyone has any info for what you might think a good powder weight please let me know.

BTW, I got these bullets on sale for $29.99 for 500.

None of my manuals list a 160. The Lyman list 3.5 to 5.6 grains for the 185. "I" would load 4.0 and see if it cycles. Probably will, but I haven't used Bullseye in more than 20 years.

My policy is to not use a powder charge that I can't document in a manual or online. Online I need several references before I'll trust it. That policy goes DOUBLE when using Bulls Eye. That is a super fast powder and devastation is only a few grains of powder away.

My favorite load for .45acp is a 200 grain SWC using Bulls Eye powder so I like it and have used it for years.

I checked my manuals and found nothing for that bullet weight. My opinion? Bulls Eye doesn't kid around. I'd put that strange bullet away until I could properly document a load for it................unless you just love picking bloody pieces of a Kaboom out of your skin.

From the previous alliant load data, you can use the next heavier lead bullet (180gr) maximum and work up to the start load for the 155gr lead bullet (-10% from the 155gr maximum). I'd suggest starting at 5.4grs and working up to no more than 6.3grs.

I appreciate all the responses and advice given. Been away from a computer for a couple of weeks and therefore unable to say thanks, but what was said by everyone makes sense and I'll follow the advice.

Guess I just jumped at what seemed like a good deal at the time. BTW, I bought these bullets at Hyatt gun shop in Charlotte, NC.

Seems to me a lot of .45 ACP pistols are not going to feed 160 grain SWC worth a hoot.
Just too darn short.

Here is a pic of a 160 gr Saeco, 185 Saeco, 200 Lyman, 230 Lyman. I load 6.4 grs of Bullseye behind the 160 for a little over 1100 fps and it's very accurate. the slowest it will shoot accurately ( 1.5" or less @ 25 yds) is about 950 fps with 5.9/231. I bought the mold hoping for a very light recoiling load for timed and rapid fire in bullseye but when you slow it down it's not accurate.
