Today I spend about 45 minutes rearranging the weapons inside my safe. This got me wondering how often others moving their toys around inside their safes. I image their are some that just let everything be and only rearrange when necessary (bought a new weapon) while others like to play tetris inside their safes, never being quite content with what they end up with. I would say that I fall somewhere in between.

Ultimately, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for a poll. So, not counting taking and returning weapons for a trip to the range, how often do you rearrange the inside of your safe.

Sometimes I go a little overboard and swap my 2 SKSs. One week the Norinco is on the left and the Yugo is on the right. The next week the Yugo is on the left and the Norinco is on the right. I don't know how long I can keep up such a crazy pace.

Other than that, I've found that there's only one way that they'll all fit in.

Well I finally broke down and bought one a couple weeks ago. I can say that these first two weeks I've moved stuff constantly trying to make it work the best but I really don't think I'll ever get there. The first day it was an hourly habit...

Spent 4 hours last week. I was tired of the lack of organization I may be a bit anal retentive when it comes to my guns.

if you use your brain you can usually fit 18 guns into 14 gun safes.

i currently have 26 guns (seven of which are handguns) in a sentry 14 gun RSC. =)

Sure, if you use a few tricks and some common sense you can pack a lot of firearms into a safe. But why would you want to? Getting them out becomes a PITA.

If it takes more than 60 seconds to retrieve a firearm from the safe - it is either unorganized, poorly setup or over filled.

Safes are cheap (compared to firearms) ...get a bigger safe.

I accidentally picked "Around once or twice every week or two" , but I really should have picked the "once a month" option. Normally it's whenever I get to shoot, which is generally about once a month. Ammo comes out, and then what's left has to go back in.. and that generally starts a big rearrangement.

Usually everytime I open it. It's a small stack-on, 8 gun cabinet with 7 rifles in it. However when they say 8 gun, you'll be lucky to get 8 in there. I've all bolt actions so if I were to put 8 in there the bolt from one would be gouging the stock on the one next to it. Also doesn't help, my Mosin with the PU Scope mount has to sit at a very awkward angle so the scope doesn't hit against the cabinet itself.

So pretty much, each time I take one to the range, about once a week, I rearrange. This one seems to fit better here, the bolt on this one protrudes too much so will be better here...

That kind of stuff
