How painful is the recoil on a Seecamp 380

I have often read that people complain about the recoil on the Seecamp 380. Just curious, how an owner would define HOW painful. Having shot the Seecamp 32, i know from experience, the recoil can be unconfortable after a few clips.

Both are Blowback guns, so more recoil than a locked breech is expected. The Kel tec and Ruger LCP are locked breech. Have shot both and no objectionable recoil IMO>

if you have shot a LCP which is very lightweight, the seecamp won't be any worse. Sure the LCP is locked-breach but the seeamp is heavier

I strongly disagree with sansone. The LCP is quite pleasant compared to the 380 seecamp, which is so painful it's pointless, IMO. I was able to make it through about 2 mags worth before I figured I'd had enough punishment. The LCP I can shoot all day long.

Interesting how we can differ so much on recoil. I guess I'm rather sensitive to it although I can tolerate my LCR with reg 38's, but today I shot a friends LCP exactly twice and handed it back. Seemed worse than the 38. I've had several 380's, German and Bulg Makarov's, NAA 32, etc........none were tolerable AFAIC. The one I shot enough to verify good function was the NAA 380. Carried it some, but recently traded it for the LCR.

While the Seecamp 380 doesn't rate up there with the flyweight .357's, the trigger guard will give you a smart rap on the trigger finger with each shot.

thanks. Seecamps 380 are spendy, the S&W 380 body guard with the true double action like the Seecamp, could be a better choice. Cheaper bigger. dont care much for the laser but can be removed.

Been carrying a Ruger SP 101, supect I will be happier with a S&W snubnose. Once in a while can find a taurus 856 with reasonable trigger pull and lock up. Think that is the six shot verson of a snub nose


The Seecamp 32 with milder reloads can be a fun plinker. but a 32 is a boot gun or at best last chance IMO.

Really? I didn't think so. I think it's part of the frame.

While I have not shot the seecamp, I have shot an AMT back up in .380 and I have a ruger lcp. The amt pretty much cured me of any desire to get a tiny .380 made of metal. Not only was recoil painful it flat out made my hand numb and tingly. With the ruger lcp I can go through at least 50 rounds before feeling any discomfort. I suggest getting a polymer .380. I've got my eye on the taurus 738.

It's not the metal, IMO, it's the lockup system or lack thereof. The blowback pistols really pop you. I don't even like shooting the all-steel Walther PPK in .380.

Ikperday, i agree about the walther PPK . when i was younger i did not mind the recoil but got much older so i sold, left hand gotten so weak have a hard time pulling slide back. tried weaker springs but created other problms. put the old spring back.
Purchased in 1972 or 73 if i recall sold last year

I carry the LCP with a flush bottom magazine, no finger thinghy, bites me hard when shooting. I also have a blowback Bersa 380CC which I can shoot all day long. These bug guns are not for plinking anyway so I carry the LCP. Figure if I need it, the recoil won't be an issue
