My brother died and I'm cleaning out his house. He had some reloading equipment that I'd like to sell but cannot find much online to help price it. Found an instruction booklet dated 1989 for a Lee Reloader. Attaching a photo. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks.

I see a Dillon and a RCBS in the photo. The Dillon should sell for a good percentage of new. The RCBS looks like about $100. In general I think you need to make an accurate list and check prices against eBay. Right now seems a top time to move used reloading equipment. Likely he replaced the Lee. Dies are selling fast. The scale and powder measure. Bullets and primers and powder are in low stock and high demand.

I see a rcbs rockchucker (green) and the blue one looks to be a Dillon square deal.
I don't see a Lee press on the bench.

If I weren't about to go on vacation, I'd be interested in the whole mess. It would be a good idea to figure out exactly what all you have in terms of dies and other supplies. Bullets should be fine as long as they're not corroded. Depending on how long he had any powders they may or may not be worth anything. Perhaps a local gun shop could refer you to someone knowledgeable (and trustworthy) to help out if you hit any snags.

First, sorry for your loss.

^ this on location is a good point. It would be ideal to find someone local for the powder and primers because of hazmat shipping laws.

Taking detailed pictures of dies and other accessories will help too. You're in a good spot to get some estimates if you want to post your questions here. The blue Dillon as said looks like a square deal base model and likely takes proprietary dies (I only see one box of dies that are positively Dillon brand). If there are more you may do well with a package deal. That one I'd say would go for 350 for what I see there to over 500 depending on how many dies and accessories like shell plates, tool heads, primer tubes etc are with it.

The green RCBS would sell quick for about 100 by itself.

Hope you have better luck than I have. I've sold a bunch of bullets, powder, RCBS dies, etc for my aging brother who doesn't reload anymore. Usually had to sell for about 50% of new retail. I've attended a few auctions and reloading components generally sell fairly low. A few exceptions, but generally used dies, for example, just do not sell well. Recently prices have been a bit more favorable for sellers, but hope you do better.

Not to derail, but where would a guy sell powders? Locally to avoid hazmat? Online with hazmat? Online and fudge the hazmat?

I’ve got more powder than I can shoot in several lifetimes and I need to move some out before I get stuck with it.

If you get caught fudging the Hazmat gun ownership might no longer be in your future.

You would have to find someone with the Hazmat cert to box and ship it for you....or sell it locally.

My view at this point is to compile a complete list with pictures of what is there,. In other words, Inventory everything. Once you have an accurate inventory many here can help evaluate fair prices. From there at least in my minds eye ebay and Armslist will be your best bet. On Armslist you can list the primers and powders for sale locally for pick up.

At least that is how I would proceed.

Where are you located? I'm sure there ia a some what local gun forum there where you could list everything as a package deal or piece it all out.
Generally that RCBS press selles used for around $100 shipping for that press will be just over $20 in a large flat rate postal service box. The handle will have to be removed so it will fit in the large flat rate box.
I just sent three of them out and have two RCBS presses left.
I just bought a nearly new Dillion 650 press fully set up for 223 with a new case feeder for $1,000. You just have a Dillion press, depending on size will depend upon worth. Plus it is mounted directly to the bench, mine came with a mounting brace.
Plus your Dillion doesn't have a case feeder. So i would put beteen $450 to $550 on it with out knowing much more about it.

I generally buy used RCBS reloading dies for around $20 to $25 a set.
Dillion dies bring more money.

Any reloaded bullets can not be sold as loaded ammunition, you need to sell them as loading componets.
It might be better to find family or friends to give them to.

Sorry for you loss and good luck on selling this stuff. If you were close by I would list it for you.

Sorry for your loss.

Others are spot on. Nice if you can find a local buyer, as at some point, there will be bullets, primers or powder which are hard to move due to weight or HAZMAT.
Also, in general its nice if someone can see used gear before they buy it and it saves you the shipping hassle.

More than likely someone here is close to your location if you post more info.

Locally. You wouldn't happen to be in NW Wisconsin, would you? :)

Or South Central Ohio???
Otherwise, advertise them on the marketplace on here, for a fair price...pick-up only.

The Dillon doesn't come with a case feeder because it is a Square Deal (SD) and it wasn't designed to be used with a case feeder.

A new SD from Dillon has a MSRP of $460...I don't think he's going to get that close to retail for a used Dillon

Wow! This is an active forum! Thanks for all the tips. I'm located in the center of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Guess the next thing I need to do is an inventory of everything. BTW the black powder has been disposed of as it was old. He had tons of used brass casings but I understand that they can only be reused a couple of times. Is that correct? Thanks again for the responses.

The OPs profile says he is in Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Olympus, I'm in MO too but in the same boat as you - need to sell and not buy. I just don't want to deal with shipping.

Pay it forward or advertise here, It’s maybe worth half of retail if your lucky

I would keep it and carry on where he left off

The last SD I noticed for sale was a year ago and it sold for $350 in less than 3 hours.

That’s about 76% of the current price of a brand new one. Dillon stuff is well known to go for 80% of current prices but sells quicker below that. If you want top dollar put it in a closet, wait for the next panic and put it on eBay. I sold a 650 after Obama’s re-election and Sandyhook for $1840, more than 3 times the reserve amount on the auction. Even right now they are there for over what someone could call the manufacturer and buy one today.

What’s that about one being born every minute.?

You might take a look around and see if there are extra caliber conversions for it. They will look like this.

Or this.

They are about $100 each new these days.
