How to reach more minority gunnies?

After SAFR in Chicago, it struck me that we must involve more minority gunowners in our efforts and activities. What sites, ideas and strategies can you think of to get the word out to minorities that gun laws are civil rights violations. :scrutiny:
 
I live in NM, which is 49% mexican descent. I myself am a mexican ex-citizen, although I've been raised here since I was 11.

Most of my friends and shooting buddies are minorities, in my group of about 15, one is black and 3 are white, the rest are "hispanic".

I don't think there's a problem in rural NM, so it's mostly a question of demographics and location, IMO.
 
I spent some time in FL in 2000 right after GWB won the first time. A fair number of black folks were talking about deer hunting, and target shooting.

I was in MS during deer hunting season not long ago. One little place where we ate lunch was popular with deer hunters. Most of the clientèle was black and dressed in cammies.

I agree with another poster that it is more an urban/non-urban thing than a racial or ethnic thing.

Not a bad idea to attract anyone into the fold though.
 
I am a community college teacher in Detroit which has a large Black majority. I let all my classes know that I will provide CCW / CPL information for any that are interested. In addition, I provide pro-gun readings for extra credit if the are interested.

Where i go shooting the spread seems to be 50 50 for the most part. Invite a neighboring church to go shooting etc. My church group goes with 3 to 4 other mens/womens groups from other churchs. This could be applied to almost any group.

The last shoot we had a BBQ as well. This actually had more people come out.

I'll be more specific...

I live 18 miles from Chicago, the willage I live in is near lilly white whit a few hispanics and blacks. What I want to do is reach the Chicago and cook county legal minorities who can and should be FOID holders and gun owners, if they want. Everytime I think minority church and chicago in the same thought, Flaeger and J. Johnson spring to mind. Minority churches lead the charge in the "war on guns". Schools are dead set against guns and our message of responsibility. I'm skunked.:mad:
 
Combat the perception that more (law-abiding) minority gun owners would increase the crimes by or against minorities.

Nearly every female or black person I've met who is against guns is against them because they feel that guns are responsible for violence against women, and/or by or against blacks.

It won't be an easy order to de-brainwash some of these folks.
