Howell for 1860?

    As the title suggests, I'm wondering about getting a Howell conversion cylinder for my Pietta 1860. I'd like some feedback from anyone who's had experience with their 5 shot cylinder for the 1860.
    I once had an 1858 with an R&D and liked it, but am wondering about the 5 shot.

    Thanks Arcticap, I'd seen those. I just wanted to get some feedback from someone here, too.
    I've got an e'mail into Howell, with a couple of questions. One of those questions is, why does Midway list the 1860 cylinder as 'semi drop in', and the cylinders for the 1858 as 'drop in'.

    Worked perfectly.
    Wish I still had it.
    I have a snubby that it would work very well in.

    I got my return e-mail, earlier, on the same day I sent the questions. Gotta like that!

    They are for the .45 Colt and .45 Schofield and they are listed as a "semi" drop in as some of them need custom
    fitting to the revolvers, especially the Piettas, which is due to the revolver manufacturer as all of the cylinders
    are CNC machined and sometimes the revolvers aren't all the same, so Kenny custom fits them for $40 which
    includes the return shipping. Hope that helps and yes, you can buy directly from us and our price is $220 and
    they can be engraved for another $35.00 if you prefer that look. Let us know. We appreciate your interest in

    I have had Kenny fit a few.

    Perfect job & well worth the cost.

    So there are no worries on the shooter's end.

    Taylors fits them too if you buy it from them.

    I find the 45 Kirst cylinder to be great for my 1860, rather than having to take the cylinder out to reload(which I believe is what one needs to do with the R and D).
    Assuming you are fine with cutting the loading port in the side of your frame.
