I found a 9mm HS2000 locally for $300. I hadn't heard about the HS2000 before, but apparently the HS2000 and Springfield XD are the same or similar.

Is this a reasonable price for a like-new HS2000? Could I ask for less?

I have no knowledge on these guns, but if you look on wikipedia it says that the XDs are actually this same gun that is just licensed to them from the original manufacturer, built in the same place, etc. etc. Basically an XD copy (the reverse, actually, since this is the original) except w/ a different stamp on the handle. The only two differences I can see is that this model lacks the accessory rail of the XD, and the grips lack the ____(whatever that finish is called)____If you don't take it let me know and I would prob be interested in it if your dealer will ship....

The HS2000 is the same gun as a Springfield XD... minus the Springfield stamp added after they bought import rights. Fine pistol, sounds like a decent price to me.

the hs 2000 was the xd before it was cool. it comes from croatia and then they were imported and marketed by sa, and now it is called the xd in america. they are the same gun. i would buy one for that price, for one i love the xd line and i own 2 already but also i would loe to have a hs2000 just to say that i have it. collectible type thing, it might not be worth that much but they are to me. call sa but i am pretty sure that they warranty them too.

I saw one in a pawn shop a couple of days ago. I don't remember the price, but I'm pretty sure it was higher than $300. It caught my eye because they used to imported by a local company before Springfield came in to the picture. Never made much of a splash as the HS2000, but the Springfield marketing machine sure change that.

I use to have one and it is a nice pistol. One thing to consider though. You will have to get replacement parts from Springfield. Some of the XD parts Springfield will not sell but will install in your pistol for free because they will honor the warranty on your gun. The problem is that you will have to pay shipping both ways if you send your gun to Springfield. Being that Fedex and UPS require overnight shipping this can cost you around $75(shipping both ways) to send in your gun. My HS2000 ran good but some parts went bad. While I had it I replaced the extractor(XD extractor has a bigger claw), the cocking indicator broke, the grip safety spring broke and the locking block with the front rails developed a chip out of it. Now they might let you just send in the slide for some parts which would save you a ton of money. Also I bought for $269 plus shipping from CDNN I think around 7 years ago. Here's the two extractors side by side. The XD one is on the left: Mark
