HS6 in 454

looking for some milder loads in my 454 Encore pistol barrel I have some HS6 on hand
would this powder be a good one for this I'm looking for a good deer load using 250gr XTP
would like to keep around 1200 fps

There's 250 grain HS6 Jacketed data on Hodgdon's site. They used a 9 3/8" barrel so the velocities will be different. You do not need bullet specific data. 1200 fps is very close to start loads. Might not give you great accuracy.

Yeah, even though I really like HS-6 ball powders don't always produce the best accuracy in rifle type loads. No reason not to try it, you might hit on a great load...

Actually, after thinking about it, HS-6 at the levels you are looking to generate might just be the right choice. If not give Longshot a try.
