That would mean that you've actually hunted. Reading about it is second-hand at best.

WARNING! BEFORE reading farther, please read the disclaimer at the end of the post.

You are basing your entire argument on information gathered exclusively from sources that are heavily biased. Therefore, whether YOU are biased or not isn't really an issue.

Also, making up a post by cutting and pasting propaganda from other anti-hunting/animal rights websites is NOT an intelligent debate.

WE ALREADY KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY. And we know that most of it is either misleading or outright lies. By reposting it here you are accomplishing nothing except reinforcing your own beliefs.

You really need to re-read my post earlier on this page. I challenged you to pick one or two facts that you have quoted and verify them using an independent, unbiased, credible source--NOT an anti-hunting/animal rights website.

Can you do it? Will you even risk trying? My guess is that your belief structure is so fragile that you won't even try to see if what you have been sold by these radicals is true or not.

And, NO, coming here is not the same thing as HONESTLY researching this topic for yourself. You consider us biased and therefore are dismissing everything we say. YOU must find out the truth yourself, and I have told you how to start.

    hmm

First of all lets try and act like mature adults, ok? Had you read my post you would have known that I go to a variety of websites, and it is the hunters that are contradicting themselves. Lemme explain it this way:

hunter says he is protecting environment by keeping deer populations healthy and in control

and yet he doesn't shoot the doe with the broken leg-he shoots the biggest buck, with the biggest antlers and skews the population ratio

and yet no one can answer my teensy question, is hunting necessary?

Irrelevant. Your starting premise was that hunting is evil, that it is wrong. Necessity has nothing to do with whether a thing is right or wrong.

You have no basis to argue intelligently because you have no information from unbiased sources and you refuse to investigate the subject using independent, unbiased sources. Until you stop quoting from these biased sources and begin constructing reasonable arguments based on credible sources, this is a waste of your time.

All right, since you're so fixated on this single irrelevant question, I'll give you an answer. You would not be here today without hunting. None of us would be. Hunting has always been a part of the human race and without it, we would not exist.

Nope no bias there. So when you can admit your biased and a troll on this sight I may admit that hunting is unnecessary. But sense this is your first thread on this sight and it is anti-hunting I don't expect you to admit to eather of these things.

Excuse me, who is contradicting who? Hunting is necessary to cull the deer populations. . .and now it's not? Why do you openly kill animals when you know that you don't have to and that they would be JUST FINE without your help

And please refrain from idiotic name calling, it is pretty immature coming from an adult ;)

As for me contradicting myself, I am not completely against hunting, part of the reason for this forum was to see if the hunter's views could withold serious scrutiny and (I didn't show you half of my website links those were just the ones I had glossed over at the time) and so far it hasn't. It fails to convince me that hunting should be an accepted practice, as it manipulates animal populations (again Idaho doesn't want any predators eating their deer though wolves eat about 18 per pack per year) less than the 100 million animals that hunters kill worldwide. What I am not against is hunters that follow the ethics of hunting, have no other way of obtaining food, and don't hang the animal in their homes to show off, and ultilize that animal to the best of their abilities. Todays sport hunters fail in every regard

You're not answering arguments, you're just reposting more propaganda from your pet sites.

If you want to debate, you need to at least READ and CONSIDER the arguments that have been presented to you. Right now, you're not debating, you're just talking out loud without listening--and the worst part is that you're not even using your own words.

sorry to all the other THR members for my posts,,,,,it just aggrevates me when you try to reason with a person like this. i apologize to all those (except the red one) for my negative posts. i'm done with this subject because one cannot reason or discuss anything with a person who just talks, but never listens...............:) and , ohh , by the way your skills dont surpass too many people here. certainly not mine, my immature young friend.

LOL you don't even know what a troll is do you. And your own words prove that you are both anti-hunting and a troll (one who goes on a site to stir up an argument or trouble). And no were in any of these posts have I givin you any direct information about what I think or don't think hunting is for, (thinning, food, enjoyment, bloodlust) I have said none of this. But now that your going to pretend your actualy pro-hunting, and not biased I had to speak up. Now go read some more of your propaganda, believe what you want to believe and maybe some day you can save all the bambis in the world from us evil hunters, hope you have access to a lot of grain to feed all the ones that will starve to death.

"I am not completely against hunting"

    Fooled me.

College level reading skills are in abundance here. I had them in the 1960s, if not earlier. You will find, as I did, that wisdom takes more work.

First you said you talked to a hunter; now it's hunters. Which is it, one or many? I assure you many of us can read as well as reason and have been doing it for many decades.

Is hunting necessary? Yes, but for a variety of personal reasons, not for any reason you are prepared to understand.

Good evening. And happy goading. Ain't nothing like bearding the lion in his den.

    John

Ok, THOSE are your own words. Unfortunately they have absolutely NOTHING to do with the debate you said you desired. So far virtually everything you have said ON TOPIC has been simply cut and pasted from other websites--NOT your own words.

So, how about reading my posts and accepting my challenge?

As I said early on in this thread

    New Member

    1 post

    1st post is anti-hunting

    This = Troll

And "15yo She" sited ALF as a credible source, a group that fire bombs animal testing labs. Actualy they were dumb enough to bomb a lab that they "thought" did animal testing but didn't. So there is no use in arguing with this person. Just catch them in lies and throw it back in thier face.

Oh and thanks for reminding me there treblue, there is one guy I know of that lives in Nederland Colorado USA, if you care to visit there Red Wind, that totaly lives off the land, even today. He hunts, traps, kills, and skins animals, to eat, sell, provide clothes, and other items to LIVE. Now you tell me if it is necessary? May be not for me but for him, and I am quite sure there are others like him, it is. Anyway, I am not quite sure why I am wasting my time here, but I am having fun quoting your contrictions.

Booze is not necessary, why don't you quote an Islamic extremist web site and tell me how drinking is evil. There are opponents to everything, but extremists serve no constructive purpose. It is entertaining to debate somone whose sole purpose of debating is antagonistic. You have a lifetime of pointless struggle ahead of you young lady, save your energy.

PS I used to argue with my dad when I was 15, I kinda feel like a father figure now :D

red wind have you ever stood beside an 80 yo farmer who just lost his crops to deer.
    no you havent.
have you ever listened to how the deer riddled his orchard and corn fields to where he had to file losses with the govt.
    no you havent.
have you ever had to listen to him beg you to come over and just take out a few of the critters and had to tell him no because it is out of season.
    no you havent.
have you ever had to listen to how he wasn't going to be able to feed his dairy cattle through the winter because of the deer in his corn.
    no you havent.
have you ever wached a man louse everything he worked his whole life for
    no you havent.
well little one i have. yes hunting is nessary to control over population. it was only through a mirical the old man was able to keep his farm because the comunity helped him out right befor the irs sold his home. the dnr gave him permission to hunt year around to reduce the damage to his crops it was alot of paperwork but it helped. armed with that permision we as employes were able to hunt deer and we used want we killed. to this day many time as a young boy the meat on our table that evening had been running around the woods earler that day and fell to my bow or gun if it hadnt many time we would have had any meat on our table. and i was thankfull for it and the ability to help feed my family. both my parents worked hard so dad was gratefull his son was a skilled hunter.
so once again yes hinting is nessary sometimes to help ecology of the aera and reduce overpopulation some times to put food on the table. so you can sit there in your house eating meat from the grocacery store when others are not so luckey to have meat. but i will not let you look down your nose at me and mine because you are not better than us. just lucky you have more money than some of us. now take your sorry excuse of an argument to somplace who wants to listen to your mindless drivle.
oh and heres a thought for you if your vegan. you do not live a death free life and heres proof for you. those plants your are eating well when plants are pulled from the ground there still alive just because they cant scream dosent mean there not alive they can sometimes survive for weeks after being riped from the soil so when your eating your salid and feeling so wholesome and looking down your nose at us meat eaters. the plants your eating are still alive as you eat them. but i dont hear you saying eating a stalk of celery is evil. so get over yourself and grow up.
