    butt_ugly_cowboy,
I ain't in Oklahoma but can offer this.
Smell: No matter all the scent products; Keep the wind, however slight in your face as much as possible. Wildlife uses their noses.

Sight: Some animals can see good. Colors that contrast with surroundings, show movement, are easier to see.

Sound: If your walking/stalking keep a few pairs of heavy socks handy. Pull your shoes off, tie the laces together to carry, and go in your socks. If you can hear your footsteps so can the wildlife. Disregard the discomfort and always carry your boots with you.

Use elevation so you can see farther, don't skyline yourself. Keep a tree/bushes to cover your shape.
    best regards & good hunting,
    Bill Weddle

    Slyfox,

I would be more than happy to meet with you and discuss hunting as well as shooting. I have been hunting for over 25 years. I am 46, been married for over 23 years, two daughters, 17 and 19 years old. I live in S Arlington. I really enjoy deer hunting but have hunted dove, quail, squirrels, rabbit and a long time ago racoons. After about 12 years of hunting on public land I have finally gotten on a deer lease this year.

Perhaps the way to get to know one another would be to meet at the/a rifle range and spend some time together there.

Anyone that lives in the DFW area...I would be happy to share what I know. I am not an expert but do certainly enjoy being out in the woods and can show you what I know.

    I'm in Socal also, looks like six others;
    dasmi, Daco, 761, glockman19, acousticmood and awwhite1012.

I used to hunt socal with a partner who was a bull in a china shop,
needless to say, never killed a deer. My neice decided to go hunting
and after considerable range time, I think she is ready. One more day
at the indoor range this week and I am taking her rabbit hunting in
Riverside County saturday. Not sure where we are headed as all my old
rabbit spots are housing tracts now.

I plan to hunt D15 on my own and D11 with an acuantance. Car needs work,
gas prices suck, have to put my rifle back together, but other than these
minor inconveniences I just need to get out and do my scouting. I had
planned to use rabbit hunting lowlands, scouting higher up with the neice
as my operating plan this year. I will be hitting the rifle range later this month
(fingers crossed) and wouldn't mind meeting up with others at the range.

Can't really call myself a mentor but I'd be willing to help out if I can. D15 is
the lowest success rate of the state and the rest of socal is tough too if you
don't already know where to go or put in the time scouting. btw I don't
expect to fill my tag, but I did buy two.

Send a pm if you think I can help, tell me a little about yourself and let me
know when you plan to go to the range.

    Jay

is where I normally hunt. I'm no expert, but I could put you on some whitetails, turkey, ducks, & squirrel. You must be extremely safe with firearms.

Looking for a mentor, can travel modest distances, however if you live in this area I can probably do the hunt on private property that is under-used.

I am willing to help folks learn the woods. I hunt most everything and love shooting. We'll have to hunt public land unless you come with your own property. Gun or Archery, from shot to the pot.

Somekid, if you don't find someone closer to you, pm me and I will see about a trip towards you. I have some hunting spots within a hour of so of you, fut not much time to hunt them.

Would like to be able to help any new comer in my area with what I have learned about hunting. I may even be able to take somebody to the lease once or twice. The other leasees are pretty good guys. We hunt dove deer turkey and pigs. Occasionally ducks and quail since we have a few of them out there also.

I'm 42 & hunt squirrel and coon w/ dogs. Usually late in the season. Also duck hunt, but don't have places to go where I live, so can't really mentor for that.

Bowhunted for years, so I know all the tricks to it. Do some deer hunting still... I spend more time now with the dogs, and that is typically well into Winter - late Dec, Jan, Feb.

I am currenly workin on the International Hunting Award (Safari Club International). I have done more hunting in Africa than anywhere else. I have taken the Big Seven (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, Cape buffalo, hippo, croc) . I also love to hunt dangerious game (ie wolf, bear, gator, big cats- well, anything that is either alot bigger and will charge or that will eat you if they see/smell you).

    S. & Central America is challanging in a diffrent way. i mean, jungles, looking for jaguar, boars, water bufalo Capybara (a 180+ lb rat), and caiman is fun, but VERY challanging. not the the jungels of Africa, but oh well. oh, i forgot bow fishin' in the Amazon.

in the west parts (america, of course) i hunt elk, mule deer, pronghorns, hog, & kyotie (i know i spelled it wrong; it was on pourpose).

up in Alaskia/Canadia, i hunt polar bear, Moose, yack, musk ox, caribou, elk, bear, and deer.

In Russia, I hunt wolves, moose (called elk here), bear, and diffrent Ibex and mountan game.

so if ANYONE need help/advice in chooseing a PH (professional hunter), guns, equipment, ect., let me know via post or privat message

I've been in the Mat-Su Valley of Alaska for some time, but new to hunting in the area. I'd like to hook up with a good teacher/mentor for hunting moose, caribou, and other game in the area.

Anyone in the Kansas City area willing to mentor a 23 year old and possibly his 21 year old brother? We are primarily interested in deer, but are open to learn to hunt anything. We have both taken our Hunters Safety Course.

I've got a wolf hunt planned for Romania, but we can't leave until the Food & Drug Administration issues their final approval on the vaccine for lycanthropy.

Any advice on what would work, BigBuckMaster?

For some reason I have a mental picture of Gene Wilder and Terry Garr. Wherewolf? Therewolf.

Ohio deer season is upon us again. I'm still available most weekends in N.E. Ohio.

I'm on the Colorado Front Range and have taken at least one newbie hunting for the last 4 straight years.
I'm a Huntmaster with the Colorado Division of Wildlife, we have a great organization for mentored youth and ladies hunts. I've also got lots of data and opinions on elk and deer hunting in this state that you can't get anywhere else. I love to educate and teach not just how to kill, but how to find wildlife, what important and browsed vegetations looks like and how to use remote scouting tools.
