    Huntsville homeowner kills intruder
Posted by Marian Accardi April 30, 2007 7:46 AM
One man was shot and killed as he allegedly broke into a residence at 900 Julia Street just before 4 a.m. today.

According to Huntsville police reports, a man was startled by a loud banging at his front door, and he and his roommate armed themselves and went to investigate. They discovered someone kicking in the front door, and one of the offenders was shot and killed as he entered the residence with a pistol in his hands.

    The other offender ran away.

The names of the victims and the person who was shot and killed were being withheld early today.

Alabama's "Stand your Ground" Law notwithstanding...

    The homeowner's timing was exquisite.

Wonder what the tox screen looked like?:uhoh:

There are several places that I would not want to go kicking in doors in the middle of the night. Alabama is in the top 3.:uhoh:

    ET,

You got that right man. The one that got away should be counting his blessings.

I see someone else has posted the AL.com link that I got the news from. I also saw the story reported on our local news channel, but there isn't very much information (and they are notorious for horrible news writing.) Nevertheless, here it is: http://www.waff.com/Global/story.asp?S=6445088

And I guess technically, it was not a homeowner, but an apartment resident. I'll post further if more details become available.

Please do... we certainly won't learn more about this from watching news on cable.

Here's a little more detail. Coincidentally, I heard from Mr. Hinshaw (the State representative quoted in this article) last week after I emailed him regarding a new anti-gun bill proposed recently in Alabama. He appears to be a friend of the cause and a real nice fella.

Keep in mind this article is basically just a transcription of the news cast. There will probably be an article in the Huntsville Times about it tomorrow. I'll post it if there is.

btw...there's a video of the report on the top left of the page that is linked above.

Glad he was armed. Imagine how it would of turned out if he didn't have a firearm.

    Go BAMA!
