I thought he lived in Chicago? He might as well have said, "What was that white stuff on the ground last December? Does that happen often?"

Some other police department needs to police the Chicago PD, but it'll never happen.

I bought my Ithaca riotgun in Harvey...

Harvey has been a rough place since the late 60's. It's in 'Jr's' turf now, too. It had the highest per-capita violent crime rate in the state for several recent years (off and on).

Like anyplace, there are still lots of nice folks there. Thornton High School has been operating there since before recorded history and made a great turnaround over a decade ago. The historic district has some stunning homes in it. Most of the members of my family went to High School there and, oddly enough, died at Ingall's Hospital in Harvey.

For a long time, the PD has been a quagmire---this goes back decades. Money, drugs, kickbacks and scandals. The recent story involves what has been decribed as a 'Remington .45 pistol' and how it seems to have magical powers of disapeering and reapeering.

Does Harvey have any "White People" living there? I don't think so.

Of course there are white people in Harvey. Many of them are the few (unlike the many), in the neighboring towns of Dolton, Riverdale, Markem, (etc.) who aren't racists or easily intimidated and don't haul tail with the herd. Yes, many are older--the ones who stayed. When you've lived there your whole life, why leave without good reason? And guess what; Most of the black folks who moved out to the south suburbs were moving there to escape the crap they had dealt with in the city--they want things to be quiet and nice as much as anybody who ever lived there.
