I am getting a Raging Bull in .44mag tomorrow

4in, ported, .44mag, blue...very nice trigger! BUT I have a question. If I decide I don't like it, how long do I legally have to own it before I try to sell it? I am getting it for a real good price.
 
don't know about in NM but here in kentucky I think its like...... .03 sec. or something like that. J/k here you don't have a time of ownership minimum. To be honest I don't know of anywhere that does but im not up on many other states laws.
 
I had been told in the past it is either nothing or 30 days. And as long as there was no intent to just buy it to sell it it was fine to sell it when you walked out the door....
 
Just got back from the range (spring valley ohio). A guy there just bought a smith and wesson 460 and was shooting it for the first time. For some reason he was trying to hold it like a rifle when he shot it. I am still not sure what happened but the scene was gruesome, the only thing I could see on his left hand was his thumb everything else was charred and gone. I have been shooting for 18 years and never seen anything like this before. As far as how long you have to keep a firearm before you sell it, I would contact a local gun shop in your area and ask them. I have the raging bull 454 and love it. It is very accurate but I can't shoot more than 10 rounds without it hurting my hand.

Argh! If you're not sure why not just keep your money in your pocket? I love my Bull. Paid $380.00

I am not recoil sensitive, just concerned about the quality of the gun, which I HEARD was great....we shall see tomorrow!
 
DISCLAIMER*** I am NOT a lawyer, and this is what I understand, not what I've researched.

I believe most laws surrounding reselling guns have more to do with volume than time. For instance, I think it would be less troublesome to resell one gun the next day than to resell 30 in a month.

I never heard of a time factor in reselling a gun, with a few exceptions where there has been an explicit statement made that you are not buying for the purpose of resale (CMP, for example). Even then, there is no specific time limit.

If you think there is such a provision in New Mexico, why not check the law rather than asking folks on the internet?

I tried asking at gun shops and the non emergency police phone line, no one had a straight answer, all speculated so I am ok becuase I not only think I will just keep it after I get it and shoot it but it appears it is true that there is no length of time limit anyway in case I do want to sell it sooner or later.

I shoot there almost every Sunday!!!

When it comes to time limits on ownership, IN OHIO there are none that I have ever been made aware of, and I have asked the same question more than once.
In NM, you may want to check with your State Attorney's Office for more information, but USUALLY.... If you do not have the intent to buy a weapon for another party who is unable to buy the weapon, you are OK. Especially if it is special-ordered and you just don't like it or have decided that you no longer need it, etc..
Once again, this is for Ohio, and I am most definitely not an Attorney.
 
It isnt that, I have owned at least 5 other .44mags and am not recoil sensitive. I usually need about a week with a new gun before I decide whether i love it or hate it. For example, I THOUGHT I would love my little 340PD but got rid of it about two months after getting it because for everything but SD it was worthless to me. This thing though I think I will keep if it is as cool as I think it will be for a bear defense gun and for trips to the range. Shoot, I had a 3.5in Model 29 for about five years, that was a baby doll to shoot....
 
So much for that!

It's a keeper...thought it would take longer, but it is SWEET!
it isn't a raging bull after all, it is a 4in heavy under lug ported blued NIB 7515.
