• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

I would like to scope an old Bubba'd .303 Enfield. Two quick questions.

1. Who makes a decent aftermarket scope mount for a No. 4?

2. Have any of you ever built up a wood stock on an Enfield with a wooden cheek riser? I did the scope mount years ago but it was so tall, that I reall only had a chin weld with the stock. I did not care for it. However, I might could put an additional piece of wood on the top of the stock as a riser. Have any of you guys ever seen that done on and Enfield?

Most of my rifles have too low of a comb. You can get adjustable combs. I also use butt bags and build up under the bag with pads cut from old neoprene waders.

You can see the tape holding the neoprene pad in place until I cinched down the butt bag

Here's a link to a high comb butt bag.

Weaver used to make a scope mount for SMLE rifles that required two or three holes drilled and tapped. The bolt handle on these rifles is already low enough to clear a scope. Don’t think it’s still produced but some old timer smith might have one.

Theres a few no drills, s&k is the only one ive seen in person and ita definitely tall even when the guns got an aftermarket stock.

Sorry, I can’t find where it came from but there is a no-drill aluminum that seems pretty solid. The way this one was bubba’ed, I rest my chin mostly on top of the stock. IMG_0476.jpeg

BSquare made stuff like that for a lot of years. If you keep your eyes open, you may be able to find one on the used market.
