So a coworker told me the other day that a friend of his was selling an IMI Uzi and wanted $1000 for it. Apparently the gentleman who owned it bought it over twenty years ago and claimed that he had only put about 100 rounds through. He is now in his late 70's and is selling off his large collection guns. I didn't hesitate to jump on this deal, it just seemed too good to pass up. I've wanted an IMI Uzi for many years but every time I find one it's out of my price range. Finally one landed in my lap totally unexpectedly and for a very reasonable price, especially in today's market.

When I went to pick up the gun later that day and got a chance to finally see it I was amazed at what great condition it was in, it looked pretty much brand new. It turns out it is an IMI Model 45 chambered in .45 ACP and came with the complete 9mm conversion kit! Included was one 16rd .45 mag and four 9mm mags, three 25 rounders and one 32 rounder. It also came with roughly 100rds of 9mm ammo. It came with the original sling, original plastic case and fake sbr barrel.

So after I made the purchase I figured I'd go out and give it a try. I picked up a variety of 9mm ammo to experiment with and some .45 as well. I spent over an hour shooting it and probably put about 250 rounds of 9mm through it and 50 founds of .45 and there was not a single malfunction. The gun ate every type of ammo I fed it even cheap Silver Bear. I wasn't shooting it at long range, probably between 25 and 50 yards mostly but it was very accurate and incredibly fun.

I couldn't be happier with how the gun performed it's first time out and I love how easy it is to break down and swap out between calibers. I wish it didn't have such a long barrel but now I just have extra motivation to get an sbr permit.

Nice rifle.

I had a chance to handle a wood stocked Uzi once in Israel, was very surprised at how heavy it was. And that was without the two loaded 32 round 9mm magazines it had. But pretty cool just the same.

Welcome to the club and great pics! I have pretty much the same gun. Mine came from Action Arms and is in .45acp with the 9mm conversion kit. The only down side is buying more mags in.45acp. The IMI .45acp mags are running $140-$175 a piece when you can find them. They sure are fun to shoot and supprisingly accurate.

Get on over to uzitalk.com Lots of people there and lots of good info too.

You got an awesome deal, BTW. You could probably sell the .45 parts for $500+ if you chose to, leaving you with a $500 IMI Uzi.

Time to send in the paper work and a $200 check.

Looks super cool and super fun. A tax stamp will only improve it on both front IMO.

sweet deal on the uzi brother , congrats . wish i could get a little of your luck and find a bargain like you did ???

I know how well balanced they are with the short barrel but how much does the long barrel affect the balance?

I have a 16" barrel on my 9mmP Uzi, SBR papers are processing.

The Uzi receiver and bolt is so heavy that I don't notice any difference in balance between having the barrel out and installed. BSW

Thanks guys.

I'm really hoping that I can find the time over the next couple months to get started on the sbr process.

I considered it briefly but decided that because it's a Model 45 and came originally in .45 I'll just keep both barrels so the gun stays all original.

It came with the 9mm conversion kit which I'll use mostly since the ammo and mags are cheaper but I really like that I have the option to switch between calibers.

You will also like the 9mm better, I know I do on mine. The 9mm seems to be much more accurate at 50 and 100 yards on mine and with a couple of extra top covers you can set them up in different configurations. I have one plain, one with an Armson mount and one with a low mount and Burris fastfire.
