I can't believe it but I got my carry permit (with picture)

I can't remember which forum member told me that I'd want to get it just so if I wanted to carry my gun, I could (not necessarily that I would all the time) - and he was right!

Here's the target from my test, double-action with my S&W 60-4, shooting as fast as I could.

I need to get more comfortable handling and carrying my gun before I take it anywhere, so I'm carrying it around in the house with me all the time - sorta feel like a dolt but I think it's good practice.

Excellent shooting, and yes, carrying around the house to get comfortable with the gun is a good idea.
 
Excellent shooting. Carrying you gun around in private so you feel comfortable with it in public is a great idea. You probably practiced with your cell phone in private.
 
What, No trip to Walmart?:eek:

That seems to be the first thing most new licensees seem to do.:evil:
 
Thanks for your compliments about my shooting, guys. I'm thinking I need to adjust the sights just a smidge to the left.

I still laugh at that one. "shopper drops gun in local Wal Mart"
We had an incident here where an off duty officer dropped his while loading or unloading baggage at the curb of the airport. He wasn't flying, just driving. I would think they would know a little more about retention than most. Go figure.

Anywho, the more you carry, the more you figure out what feels comfortable and what doesn't. You may end up with a different sidearm or holster once you figure out what works for your lifestyle. The main thing is to CARRY it. First rule of a gunfight...........
 
Don't adjust the sights until you try benchresting the thing. Most people will pull the gun towards the trigger finger when firing rapidly. (Actually, most people do it when firing slowly!)

Don't let them give you a bad time about shooting the ear off the B.G., if you've ever cut your ear, you know it will NEVER stop bleeding. And, think about what the round must have sounded like, whizzing by the ear at that distance!

Congrats.

The only way you will become comfortable carrying is doing so as often as you can; sitting, walking, doing the normal things you do.
 
My two cents: Don't adjust the sights from what you have until you shoot about 200 rounds out of it DA. Your group is really good just the way it is.

...and another congratulations. And, do carry your revolver continually around the house. It does help you acclimate to any number of factors.

Congratulations and nice shooting. I always carry in and out of the house. My wife doesn;t mind my carrying it even in the house. You gotta love the wife! She even helped me buy a Ruger LCR this Father's day.:)

Congrats for taking the enormous step from victim to ruler of your own fate.

My next prediction is... that you'll buy more guns. One of the issues that confront CC'ers is that it's an awful lot of trouble to carry a full sized pistol or revolver in the summer. It can be done, but you have to sacrifice some comfort and convenience. Many/most people settle for a compact single stack 9mm or .380 for summer carry. If that issue arises, you'll find that some semi's mimic the DAO pull of a revolver and that might be the way to go for you.

Nothing wrong with that... I always carry in the house and have been carrying for years.
 
Congrat's miss lead, on both obtaining your CCW license as well as
your shooting skills. I would not adjust those sights either; as the target
looks well enough to stop a perp/intruder/gang-banger or what ever. The
S&W 3" model 60-4 is one fine weapon, as I have really enjoyed mine~! ;)
