You need to cook more. Come into my kitchen while I’m making spaghetti sauce and the onions and garlic will clear that dust out of your eyes!

No onions here but some strange electrical interference is making my monitor a little blurry.

I’m always looking for stories on how to be a good person to help instill those traits in my son. I read this one to my wife and son. Thanks for sharing, Gunny.

My son Isaac has been staying at his mom’s for the pass week. Yesterday he called and asked if him and Gunner could come over and stay the night. I pretty much knew that my Ex wanted to go somewhere with her boyfriend. I told him they could both come over. When my Ex dropped them off she said that her and her boyfriend were going motorcycle riding and she would be by Sunday afternoon to get the boys.
I had a good time with the boys here. Gunner kept coming in the shop to watch me working on the Winchester 1890. He had a bunch of questions.
Last night I watched them play video games. Don’t tell there mom that I bought them a bunch of candy for them to bring home.
I had two small tomahawks that I really had just sitting around. I let Gunner through the in the back yard. He thought they were cool so I gave then to him.
Oh darn! I forgot to tell his mom about the tomahawks when she picked th3m up. ;)

Living dangerous! Throwing 'hawks while shoeless.

Also, sending them home without telling the ex!

Not telling the ex is probably the more dangerous of the two

Back in 1958 you could have been my uncle's best friend Charlie. Following a week visit to Charlie's family cabin in the NY Catskill region Charlie gave me the Remington 510 single shot 22 they had let me shoot all week. I was 8 years old in 58 and today I still have that Remington 510. Some people are just naturally giving and you would fall into that group. Gunner will never forget his first rifle and who gifted it to him. Nice going there Gunny.

Oops... guess you'll have to be more careful about that in the future Gunny!

In today's world all of us need to do this. These kids are not getting the gun training from dad like we did. If you find a young person who is interested in shooting. We need to take them under our wing to train them. I have given away a 28 ga. H&R. a Rossi matched pair and a Rossi 410 in the last 3 years . It is money well spent to continue our hunting and shooting heritage

So I guess we could say mission accomplished. Over the past 30 years my ex-wife says the same but it can never add up to the 13 years of stress she caused me. That said my understanding was always that a Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant has a mission of causing stress. :)

    Great story, well done sir!

I highly agree. I enjoy teaching basic marksmanship skills to youth, both with air rifle/pistol and small bore. Sure it's not as "action" oriented as other things out there, but it stresses safety and the kids can develop marksmanship skills that will give them a lifetime of enjoyment.

Neat post. Good on ya, Gunny.

Since someone asked the Revelation 100B appears to be the Mossberg 321B.
