I hate Bloomberg, but he's a smart S.O.B.

Just saw one of Bloomberg's ads he spent so much money on. It was deceiving at first.
It starts out with a guy sitting on the bed of a truck with a shotgun. He talks about how he grew up with guns, his children will and he will fight to protect his right to bear arms. At this point, I'm thinking, "Awesome. Finally a pro gun commercial." No such luck.
He then goes into a spill about how closing the "gun show loophole" and demanding universal background checks would actually protect our rights.
The logic I guess was that if bad people can't get guns, there will be no mass shootings, and then the government won't come for our guns. :banghead:
Frankly this scares me a little. They're making it sound like gun owners actually support this nonsense. I'm afraid people who are on the fence will see this and think, "Well, even gun owners are for it." Television advertisement works.
Don't stop working people. This mess isn't over!

It'll never be over. We have to continue to be vigilant and to continue working.

They will keep failing. They won't give up, but they won't win either.

Live action Elmer Fudd stating his case, right? Did he mention anything about hunting or wabbits?

This the commercial where he has his booger hook on the trigger and the gun not pointed in a safe direction and action closed?

    Yeah, he mentioned hunting.
That's the thing. We, who are educated in these matters pick up on the things like them relating guns to hunting and gun safety as raze mentioned. It's the people on the fence, the ones who aren't so well informed that are going to be swayed by it.

His glow in the dark finger-on-trigger violation should have been the first clue . . . ;)

The guy's beard appeared to have been spray painted with black krylon, to get rid of the gray.

Hey mister, I'll say anything you want and appear in a stupid ad for a quarter!

Maybe we should start taking up a collection to get airtime for a commercial where a stereotypical sleazy New York politician talks about how gun control isn't effective, but he likes it because exercising power over others makes him feel excited, just like when he banned big gulp sodas . . .

THAT would be funny, but many people would think they were watching another episode of 'Boardwalk Empire' or something, and not even realize it's a commercial...

Your average gun owner isn't a hunter or a hick, so they won't identify with this actor's portrayal.

The actual hicks & hunters will be insulted/offended by the stereotype, so they won't be swayed.

Basically, it's not going to resonate with anyone who didn't already agree.

Interesting. But, I am unsure how long that crap can run around until it gets tagged or held up as one of Bloomberg's propaganda pieces. I have feeling if the average person knows that the point of this crap is to get them to agree to some Billionaire tycoon who thinks of them as little more then pawns or ants, then they might be less receptive of the message.

Don't kill the messenger, but make sure everyone knows from who the message is coming from.

-E- Mach IV also beat me to it, but interesting point of subversing this. See how much farther we can get the guys who are making this to push the actor into the stereotype territory. Less people can relate to the person in the commercial the more "eh" effect it will have. I wonder if that is doable...

Goal 1 is to cut down on number of guns sold to non-criminal civilians. Goal 2 is to disarm
civilians. Goal 3 is to disarm civilian criminals.

Never underestimate our opponents. Some of them are quite intelligent, though I have yet to see common sense from them. I watched the same commercial. It sickens me that these "anti's" want to do whatever it takes to remove something they all agree they don't like. I don't like a lot of things, but it's still America. I have to put my big boy pants on and deal with it.

As usual MachIV is exactly right. While the anti's try, they just don't get us. No matter how hard they try they still walk like a duck and talk like a duck. We just need to be mindful and stand firm.

Please everyone, if you agree with them or not, support the NRA and other Pro-2AM groups. They are all that stands between us and total disarmament.

In the second video, with his finger off the trigger but not properly indexed, the actor says, "closing loopholes will stop criminals...from buying guns."

Excuse me, but do existing laws against drunk driving, robbery, and murder prevent drunk driving, robbery, and murder? If they do, then why do we still have drunk driving, robbery, and murder?

Laws don't stop criminals. All laws do is give us a process by which we arrest criminals, charge them, try them, and eventually release them back into society. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Effective among folks like us, who are familiar with firearms and know the rules? No.
However, many people are not gun people, and don't know the safety rules. For them it certainly may be. We look for things like safety protocol. Your average guy who doesn't own guns, don't. They listen to the "message".

I don't think he is smart.

He should be in the fedral pen for all the straw buys he had done.
If it would have been you or me they would be piping light to us.
He just hired a good marketing company to make an anti gun commercial.
Personaly I think the average 5th grader is smarter than Bloomberg.:scrutiny:

It seems pretty obvious to me that his whole hand (including his finger) is in front of the trigger guard (based on its relationship to the ejection port).

The ads come across as a satirical, exaggerated portrayal of rural America.

Bloomberg is disturbingly reminiscent of some tin-horn totalitarian dictator and self-seeking opportunist. Such historical individuals are indeed opportunistic, seizing power over a society during times of tragedy and raw emotions.
