My love for all things wheel gun-nish has finally upset a good friend of mine. Ex Navy line coach, ship defense, boarding/search siezure, all this good stuff in the Navy; and he swears by a polymer high capacity 9mm. I finally broke it to him today. "I understand their 'advantages'... I just don't want one." I like 1911's and revolvers; and I can drive tacks with both of em. Ive absolutely sucked with anything "Glock" or anything that felt like a 2x4.

Anyways, how can I make amends with my buddy ? I like the dude as a friend and training coach, he and I just don't see eye to eye on some things ... like revolvers

Talk about something else?:)

My best friend loves anything old and metal, while I prefer less weight, more accuracy and capacity. Have him pick a 9mm and it will be a Browning Hi-power. 45acp-1911, rifle- AK, SKS or Mosin.

Me-9mm-M&P. 45acp-1911, Rifle. Bolt or AR.

I razz him when we deer hunt and he uses a flint lock that couldn't hit a milk jug at 50yards, but I kill deer at 200yards. He gets mad and get over it. This is absolutely silly if your friendship is tainted over a stupid gun.

Let me guess: you drink out of crystal and he has a penchant for solo cups. My attempts to educate associates on the dictates of taste haven't been well received.
Perhaps if change is in order, it is you who will have to change. I don't recommend attempting to go too far too fast. Try this: have a trusted associate place an unloaded Glock on a table. Place one fingertip on the slide. Hold it for fifteen seconds if you can. Don't berate yourself too much if this is more than you can do the first time.

Afterwards, consider the experience: no pain, no permanent stain. Push yourself as you can along this vein. You may never learn to love Glocks, but you may in time learn some tolerance.

I actually enjoyed writing this--that it's arrant BS aside. Who can but say? Maybe somebody from the ACLU or the Southern Poverty Law people--I forget their exact name--will wander along, see this, and hire me as a diversity coach for a six-figure salary?

I hated Glocks until I shot a gen 4.
Meet him halfway. Buy something high capacity that fits you.
It is possible to like revolvers and high capacity semi auto.

Get a new friend. If this is a serious beef and not sarcasm, tell him to go back to junior high and go about your business.

Really a loss of friendship over firearm choice, I really am surrounded by snowflakes.

What ever happened to, if it works for you great?
Having such a strong opinion about something inanimate that one thinks and pushes it on others is beyond ego. Validation on it from others only solidifies that individuals questioning of it. Personal preference only requires self validation. Maybe it's more pruddent to get it straight with him. Just tell him that you respect his preferences and it's time he did same.

If he is a great guy, then he will get by your differences on stupid small things like this. We all have our likes and dislikes and it don't mean you are evil.

Maybe you should show up with a cap and ball revolver next time.

But seriously, everyone has their own preference. As a friend he should accept yours and help you even if he doesn't particularly like your choice of firearm. But it goes both ways, you should do your part and maybe try what he suggests or see it his way,out of respect I suppose. After all, us gun folks need to stick together.

get a hi cap plastic frame 1911, or an EAA plastic race gun! or try any of the multitude of different plastic fantastics. I can't stand Glock grips, at least the older ones, I gave up trying a while back. I really like my CanikTp9sfx tho.
on the flip side you could get an 8shot tactismith!

In all honesty, I think the OP was joking. At least I hope so.[/QUOTE]

Hmmm ... Two threads now running , same op , both seem like chain yankers.
