About Wally World's questions when buying ammo that is. Today was the first time it happened to me.
I purchased 5 white boxes of 9 and one of the Remington .22 bonus packs. When the girl goes to ring it up she says "I've never seen this before." (Refering to the prompt on the cash register) "Is this ammo for a pistol or rifle"
I immediately thought of the threads I've read here and almost answered with some of my favorite responses...." BOTH!!" or "Neither", but I just ran with "rifle".
That's when she asked "Is there a difference?" :rolleyes:
She was nice through it all, and just ignorant, not stupid, but I still thought it was funny.
No comment on the 650 rounds of ammo I was walking out with, though. :evil:
Usually I get my 9mm and .22 at a store in a smaller town, but this time I was closer to the shore and the sub base. Don't know if that had anything to do with it, just an observation.
 
Funny you should bring this up...

I have not been asked the last 3 times I bought ammo there..

Usually I say both, but normally "they" only ask about .22 cal. :scrutiny:

Guess they are not worried about "the big stuff" :)
 
My favorite is when they ask "pistol or rifle" with shotgun shells. I honestly have to say "neither, sorry!" :p
 
My Wally World Associate was reading from the screen, and the question was about the ammo.......specifically, whether the ammo was for a "pistol" or rifle.
To be technically correct I suppose it should be phrased as 'handgun', right?

Wally World has been asking that question all over the country for years. I guess they are compiling stats for who knows what -- I can venture a good guess though! :barf:

Nope, simple reason. If you plan to use it in a handgun, you have to be 21. If you use the exact same ammo in a rifle, you only have to be 18. That's the federal law, go figure...

EDIT: Wal-Mart is one of the few places that is nice enough to ask. I've been denied .22's before, because they could be used in a handgun.

Yeah, or maybe they are one of the few places that a person under the age of 21 can purchase ammo for their pistol caliber carbines. :rolleyes:
