I'm guessing the sale of Glaser Safety Slugs might have actually gotten a bit of a boost at the time from its depiction in the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris (and the subsequent Michael Mann film adaptation Manhunter). The story involves a serial killer who leaves evidence at his crime scenes that he's virtually superhuman. Will Graham, the FBI agent profiling him, seeks to improve his odds in a possible confrontation by arming himself with a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special loaded with the said Glasers. The film actually has a quick scene where he's loading the rounds.

Way back in the early 90s I read about Glasers (and subsequently MagSafes) and was sucked in.
Ordered several hundred dollars worth (so I could test them in my chosen carry guns) and all was well...until I started reading reviews saying otherwise. Okay...

Shot them off, bought some decent JHPs (currently HSTs) and have been carrying those ever since.

No! Love me a ring airfoil. Went to aerospace school (did wind tunnel and water tunnel work before that even, but didn't end up with a degree) so a huge nerd for some of this and totally missed this specific insanity.

I wonder if they work? I mean, are they weighted properly to have circulation control so they fly and go in straight lines or is this some silly terminal ballistics thing (cut a hole in them?) or... what?

Agree, if you ever find some laying around at a gun show, save one for me!

Those PMC tubular bullets would deflate truck tires ,very quick ! As I remember the accuracy was not much after 50 feet or so.

I had to shoot a large , beautiful dog that was hit by a car in front of my house in early 90s and the .38 special Colt Snub was loaded with Glasers . First shot from a frontal brain shot went down rather than back into brain and the poor creature howled , I emptied the other 5 shots into the side of chest directly into heart and animal died. I buried the animal and the wounds were shallow and wide but I did smash the heart. I had a few packs of them and got rid of them into bottles and cans. Not impressed !
