do you think that becuase of all of England's laws to restrict firearms, knives, swords, it left all of its enhabitants completely unable to protect themselves? I know that nobody will see a link and think..."Hey, maybe people should be able to protect and defend themselves"

Every day I pray for a Zombie type scenario. Hopefully I will be a survivor and not infected right from the start.

I am more or less looking forward to seeing how a tight strict police state still falls apart and is unable to keep the people "safe".

A police state like the one depicted in 28 is more about control then security. If the people where "allowed" to defend themselves they wouldnt be very easy to control.

Maaaaybe...though then again, we've already seen more failures than could be fairly documented of how the .gov fails to protect people, even in places with strict laws.

If the Zombies did rise, I'd lay my money on people crying to Nanny State for "MORE LAWS TO PROTECT TEH CHILDREN" than any kind of measure that would, you know, actually WORK to let people protect themselves.

Hmm. The 10-year anniversary of the development of the video game "Duke Nukem Forever" is upon us, IIRC. If you don't know who Nukem is, luckily the short version is the same as the long one: guy with big guns goes around killing evil aliens that want to rule the world and kidnap Earth babes. :p

The first level of Duke Nukem 3D involves Duke crash landing in California to single-handedly start fighting off the invasion. The only living things in sight are evil alien monsters, and strippers..!

Now, if the game were just a tad more REALISTIC, there'd be cops there too demanding Nukem turn in his guns for the safety of the state!

Heh...if I had the techno-skills, that would be an 'interesting' mod to DN3D...:D

When do we want them?!

I know right... Society is crumbling because killer zombies are murdering and infecting everyone and the cops want YOU to turn in your weapons because they are dangerous.

I could definitely be wrong...

But I remember a long time ago reading that the plot was about the USA coming over the help the Brits.

What I thought was cool is that some of the plot focuses on the politics of the USA taking over Britain and wanting to make it part of the USA. I thought that was beautifully ironic, myself.

Again, I remember reading this a LOOONG time ago so things in the movie could have changed drastically since then.
