Don't have a 645, but I've got a 910. :D Great pistol IMHO. S&W does make some nice autos besides the M&P. Underated in my opinion.

i had a 645 for a while...yes that is a 2nd Gen gun, although it was the 1st Gen of the S&W .45...and much prefer it to the follow-on 4506. i think i paid about $300 for it. they are very acurate, but heavy

i gave mine to a guy who did computer work for me and wouldn't let me pay him

Awwwwww come on! Not fair! I really miss my 645 now! I carried a 645 the first year I was a cop. I had a set of smooth cocobolo wood grips with S&W medallions that were made by Altamont. I loved that big stainless .45! Buy my department mandated a switch to Sigs after my first year. I'm still carrying the Sig P220 I was forced to buy. My S&W had to be sold to finance the Sig.

I want my 645 back! I understand why you like it so much!

I have a 1076 10mm.
I hate the thing. Feels like it is set high in my hand and feels thin.
The only reason I keep it is to fill the 10mm hole in my collection.

My first carry auto was a 4506. The fact that it could feed empty cases sold me on reliability. Still have it, thing is heavy like a tank, but a reliable .45 is always comforting.

I had a 4506 (I know this about the 645). It never felt right to me. Tall and thin, felt like the only thing my grip was in contact with was the front and rear straps. Sights on mine were off quite a bit, high and to the right.

Solid, robust, and yes it would feed an empty case, but so will my 1911's (never shot an empty case anyway).

I wish I could have warmed up to it. Sold it.

Over the years I have had two 645's (not at the same time however). For me they were the most accurate, and dependable autos I have owned.

They are large however, and they both left due to situations that required a more covert profile.

That said, for the right price I would have another in a heartbeat, truly an under rated classic in my opinion.

Those are some nice looking grips on your pistol. The 645 is certainly a substantial chunk of stainless steel!

So far mine has been 100%. I picked up a holster for it on ebay, and some magazines at CDNN.

They are a nice looking pistol.

I carried this one when I was running a couple of drug task forces. It's big and heavy but 100% reliable with everything I've ever run in it and extremely accurate. I still carry it some but the with the weight you have to seriously want to carry it.

Thanks, i got these grips on Ebay actually, they are walnut, and were only $40....I love how they are model specific.

I had a 645 I sold because the boys were small and we had a near accident in the house.

When I re-entered shooting, I was not happy until I found another pistol in this series. Got a great auction deal on a 4506-1.

Feeds empty cases and even handloads I kinda screw up. Totally reliable and very, very accurate.

Have a state trooper friend who still carries his with after market 10 round mags. He totally trusts it.
