I may get a second 550B tool head/dies/powder funnel/powder measure for 45A

That way i can leave my main set for 45ACP alone, and have a second head set up for experimentation with different powders, bullets ect.

I want to experiment, but then don't cause I hate to have to get it all back to the recipe i use 99% of the time for target shotting. This way i can set my main tool head setup aside and play. Make sense?

Anyone else do this?

I've got a dedicated toolhead for anything I load more than casually for. I think they sell them in 3-packs.

Makes perfect sense. Dillon sells a quick change assembly for $80 or so. This is the powder measure, tool head, powder die and stand. Or you can re use your existing powder measure - just have to reset it.

I am now up to 14 tool heads. Not proud, just lazy.

I also have gone the route of getting a seperate quick change assembly for each caliber I reload.

Keith: An interesting post. I have set up and run two 550B presses. One is set up for large primers and the other for small primers. I have six heads set up with properly adjusted heads and powder measures. It takes me all of five minutes to change shell plates and I'm up in running for a new caliber in less than ten minutes. Call me lazy, but I just don't like tearing down the press to change primer size. It works for me!

I have five complete tool heads with measures for rounds I load a lot. I've got maybe another six or eight with just dies or a decapping die. That's what the 550 is all about. Tearing down and resetting each time is a royal PITA. Also, once it's set I figure there's way less chance of making a mistake.
