My friend asked me to find a standard capacity (14rd.) magazine for his Smith&Wesson 9mm. It's a model 459 with what looks like a stainless satin finish. The factory magazine is stainless also.

I don't know much about S&W autos, except for what I described above. I called the local gunshop, and all they said they had were 10 rounders for $37. Ouch. Is there anywhere I can find a better deal?

Look for magazines that are for the model 59 -- they will work for your friends 459.

You will probably be able to find what you need at:

    www.cdnninvestments.com

15 rounders in blue and ss, from both the factory and Mec-Gar (Mec-gar makes great mags).

Price should be a lot less.

Eggs right, the 59xx magazines will work in the 459, S&W changed the follower design making room for the 15th round.

Mark at Summit Gun Broker has them for $13ea, (816) 578-4682, they are used LEO trade ins. They are in good to very good condition (wear on magazine bodies, but will function 100%). Mark's good people to do business with.

CDNN has them for $20ea, they're "used", but should be in LNIB or new condition.

+1.....Another recommendation for CDNN. I picked up two used, ex-LEO factory mags for my wife's 5903 and they have worked flawlessly. They were about $19 each, over a year ago. That was a whole lot better than paying $30-$38 for a new one.

    DOH!

I knew I should have checked some of those places. I've been away from the "gun scene" for a few months because I've been pre-occupied with martial arts training, and I've forgotten everything...

Thanks for the replies, guys. I feel welcomed back here after being absent for a while. I'll try to drop by more often.

Yep, CDNN is the place to go or the S&W web site also has mags but I don't recall all the specifics of them. Seems they all ran around $35.00 to $40.00 at S&W. CDNN sells ProMag and a few others starting around $8.99.

CDNN also sells a myriad of "pre owned" S&W (brand) hi cap mags for $19.95. I just got two in and they're like new. :)
