I went shooting with a new friend today at a gravel pit, we shot a few pistols and all went well.
He asked if I would like to shoot some clays and .22 lr bolt guns, and bring his little Bro (he's mentoring a fatherless 13 yr old) I said sure.
I have been shooting for most of my life and consider my self a safe shooter, but I am always on the look out for tips with new shooters.
When I have introduced someone to shooting I give them the gun rules I was taught,
1. assume every gun is loaded
2. do not handle a firearm until you have knowledge of its function
3. if you pick up the firearm, keep your finger off the trigger and keep it pointed in a safe direction.
4. determine the condition of the firearm, loaded ? barrel clear ?
5. when you shoot be aware of the bullets path and range, as well as your surroundings.
Please help me fill in the blanks.
Thanks
