Joe - Nebraska appeals to my steampunk side (read a lot of Verne and Wells as a kid).

Gary - Michigan strikes me as a practical rifle (features including sights in common with Mini14/30 is a good idea).

Tending toward Gary's gun.

I have a feeling that Ruger will come out with a wood stock take down 10/22 whether the one in the contest wins or not. I also have a feeling that Ruger will also have their own Commemorative/Anniversary model.

Which leaves mine as the best choice to vote for so we all can have a practical do everything rifle. :D

Seriously though, I appreciate the support. It has been great fun to watch the numbers climb and I hope it will be 'more funner' to win. :D

voted for you looks like win or lose you already won a free gun any idea what your going to choose?

Sorry man, I was in the same contest and didn't get selected. Mine was a real rifle I'd already made, which is what I thought Rugers rules were, not an idea design that doesn't yet exist. I'm picking one of the real ones.

Hmmm, maybe Ruger moved the goal post. From what I read on the finalists, the word "design" is used repeatedly by Ruger. It looks like a mix of designs and real rifles were selected by the Ruger judges as finalists.

"voted for you looks like win or lose you already won a free gun any idea what your going to choose?"

Good question. The general consensus among the finalists was to pick the most expensive gun in the catalog. I believe all the finalists picked the SR-762. Reason being it is the top of the line gun. If you want or need something like it you are good. If you don't you can sell it.

The grand prize is a bit different. If you win the grand prize you start all over with $5K. That means the one you picked as a finalist is null and void. You have to use the $5K on Ruger guns and the values is based on full MSRP not wholesale or dealer price. In other words, that Ruger you can order at Buds for $400 has a MSRP of $520. Oh, and you have to pay taxes on the $5K, and sales tax and dealer transfer on the guns when you get them.

Hey, I'm not complaining but all those "free" guns could end up costing you $300-400. Not really a bad problem to have. :D

So now you have the inside scoop. Keep voting for me and I will write up the complete adventure of picking out the guns and going to the Ruger factory if I win.

I actually voted for yours before I learned that it was designed by a fellow THR member. I love the idea, it looks like it would be exceedingly functional.

yours truly is the best choice. i voted, and you are still in the lead!

good luck!

I'm not voting for the OP because I honestly like other options more. I think threads like these should be avoided in competitions such as this because it grossly skews the results as I am sure other contestants did not think of posting a "vote for me" thread on rifle forums. For me, this turns a genuine contest into a popularity contest (or a "hey, I know that guy" contest)... not cool.

adam123, it only turns into that if the people voting allow it to. the OP has no control over why or how people vote.

people should view all the entries and vote for their favorite. i did that, and voted for the OP. others have stated that they didn't vote for him because they liked someone else's idea better. no harm here.

I agree with Adam. Guy wins because he makes a post in a popular forum. Just saying.

This thread brought my attention to the contest, but I took my time to check out all the finalists. Considering what I like in a Ruger and the path Ruger has been taking the last few years, the OP's design seems to be a logical choice for Ruger to make. It pulls from many elements Ruger has recently introduced on other firearms. That is why the OP's design got my vote.

Although, seeing Ruger's past anniversary edition firearms and this being a 50th anniversary edition 10/22, it wouldn't surprise me to see nice wood stock embellished by TALO instead of a polymer stocked all purpose 10/22.
