  1. I hate to do this to y'all, but the migration went well, then I broke THR by trying to recompile software. Rather than leave THR down for 12+ hours as I try to fix this, I just reverted back to the old server.

This means data entered on THR tonight is gone. I'm sorry. It's the best I can do right now though.

I'm going to get some sleep and try this another way tomorrow.

Again, I'm sorry for the loss of data and resulting confusion.

    Dismiss Notice

I now have every handgun on my want list

The last two are Whitneys, yes? What's the one before that, Spiller and Burr?

No sympathies to commies, 1911 just does not fit my wants or needs.

I still have the "bucket list" I composed 56 years ago of handguns I wanted to acquire in my lifetime. I was confident that I'd covered all of the bases and certain that once I got every gun on the list, I'd have everything I'd ever want or need. As the years went on, every time I checked one off, it seems two more were added. What became very clear, very quickly is that there's a very big difference between want and need. My "need" list was completed after handgun number three or four. My "want" list is well; still wanting...

This may not be a gun you want but it is the gun that I think you need:

Luckily for gun manufacturers my want list and need list are two very different things.

    No,

    S&W 686?
    Ruger Redhawk?
    Ruger Blackhawk?
    Not even a single 6?
    1911?
    CZ 75b?
    Delta Elite?
    Colt SAA replica?
    Sig 226?
    Ruger 22/45
    Buckmark?

I better stop before I realize how many more "musts" I lack myself.

Amen on the Buck Mark. That one and the K22 Masterpiece are the two that ALWAYS go to the range with me. :)

The trick is to have two lists, the needs list can be finite but the wish list isn’t.;)

I only NEED one gun at a time.
Thus, my list of needed guns is only one item long.
I just find that I have no desire to dispose of the previous needed guns.

Amen to that. I've slowed down, but not completely stopped.

I'm also happy for the OP. That sounds like an awesome collection - great guns to fit all of your needs.

I’m a man of simple tastes and currently have a small collection, but I’d like to add:

    A snubby .38
    A Remington 1858 black powder
    A NAA Companion
    A Glock 34 with a red dot

Those are in order of need/desire.

And so you come here, to the House of Temptation where your immortal soul has been placed in peril by the vile Demons of Dragoons, mystical Cabal of Colts, Succubi of Smith & Wesson, Beelzebub of Beretta, and (not to be underestimated) Gay Men of Glock.

(EDIT: Laugh. You know you want to...)

Bow down and prostrate yourself before the mighty 5 1/2 inch, color case hardened, .45 Colt SAA:
