A guy I know mentioned to me that he was going to take this Sig P226 to the pawn shop because he needed some quick cash. I couldn't bear to pass it up at what he offered, so I thought I would give it a try.

It's a Stainless P226. I am unable to find this exact model on Sig's website. Anything you guys can tell me about this gun?

This is my first Sig. I like it, but it's a bit bigger and heavier than I am used to in a handgun. Can't wait to take it shooting.

Don't bother taking it to the range; you're going to hate it. Here, just tell me what you paid and I'll give you the same amount so you won't be out anything...

Seriously, nice gun. I hope you got a great price on it. My 228 is one of my favorites.

Is that a 9mm or a 40? That's the exact gun I've been searching for, you lucky dog. Its the all-stainless model, replaced by the current Elites. Congrats, that's a fine firearm.

Yea, I hate the current "Elite" model as well. What were they thinking?

Probably the same thing they were thinking when they brought out the Sig556!

rockymtntactical,

i'm no 226 expert, but i do own one and know a few things about them. the one you have is the Sig P226 Stainless model. it has the same manual of arms as the other basic P226's. the main, and to my knowlege only, difference between it and other P226's is that that the basic P226 utilizes a stainless slide with a black Nitron coating, and aluminum frame.

The stainless model you have features not only a stainless steel slide, but also utilizes a stainless steel frame if memory serves me correctly. i own the standard, Black Nitron P226 in .40 SW. One of my shooting buddies has a stainless like yours but in .40 SW and he paid about $100.00 or so more for his than i did for mine.

other than that, the only difference is that the stainless is one sexy beast (imho) and the black is more utilitarian looking.

nice pistol and congrats! that steel framed 9mm should outlive us all!

MD7 is spot on. It is a steel framed P226. It will be heavier than a standard P226 other than that it is the same as any other P226.

Good find.

That's a nice gun. Give us a range report. If you like it, certainly keep it. I like that model because of the stainless steel (steel frame, too?), which makes it a little different for a 226. I'm jealous!

I can tell you its almost a $900 gun at suggested retail price. My Nitron finish P226, (new in 2000) has never suffered a malfunction of any kind. You are going to love that gun. Mine has been flawless.

nice, that's a great looking gun! i have a regular P226 in 9mm, it's a great gun, and is very enjoyable to shoot. you'll probably fall in love with it the first time you take it to the range :)

Yeah, I bet it will be one sweet shooter. I may make it my designated bedside pistol. We'll see.

Thanks for your help fellas!!

UGH! I can't believe everyone is SO polite that no one yet asked you what you paid for the thing... cuz I'm kinda dying to know. But I don't wanna be rude either. So if you just find yourself wanting to unburden yourself of that secret, please feel free to do so.

Beautiful pistol.

$500.

He has been trying to sell it to me for $600 for months. I knew it was a good deal but I resisted because I wasn't really looking for something like this (I'd have been a bit happier if it were a P229). Finally, he came up to me, said, "I am gonna sell the Sig for $500 if you or someone I know wants it and if nobody wants it I will take it to the pawn/gun shop".

I said, what the hell, I can't pass this up. So I jumped on it, figuring I could see how I like it and if I don't I would be able to get out of it without losing anything.

I think he is just lazy. He never listed it in the paper or anything (despite my suggestion that he should). Oh well.

So, here we are.
