I still like 1911s........

You don't have to spend big money to purchase a reliable, well built, 1911.

While I shoot 200 LSWC's in 2700 Bullseye (and probably going to 185 LSWC's), once I had the sights adjusted for my target loads, I have no need for adjustment. In fact for my fun shooting, I see no need for adjustable rear sights because I shoot 230 RN bullets

I came to the conclusion that the 230 RN bullet was the most reliable in feed, shot accurately beyond my ability, and I did not need heavier bullets in the 1911 pistol. I also like the fact that fixed iron sights don't lose pins, screws don't come loose, which I have had with adjustable rear sights. I have had a number of S&W rear revolver sights come loose at the range due to the thousands of rounds I put through them. Screws on the top strap came loose, pretty sure I had a pin in a Bomar work loose. Factory 45 ACP 1911's are adjusted for ball ammunition, that is a 230 RN at 800 + fps and that's what I reload.

You can spend more for something like a Springfield Armory. This pistol was tight all over, no movement, and the trigger is great. Had to get it that day.

I'll second the Springfield Armory route. Picked up my first 1911 a couple of years ago, a SA Ronin in .45 acp. It had one FTF within the first 50 rounds but has performed flawlessly since then. Fit and finish are great, love the wood grips, the trigger is excellent, even though it is plastic, but that doesn't seem to matter. No complaints and the price is right.

Even with my relentless flinch it will still shoot well. Playing cards at 7 yards.

No, it’s IWB. I carry it at about 3:00 or so with a forward cant.
Got it. Okay.
I thought that would be a big pocket!

I never have warmed up to the poly-striker guns...despite havingone for a carry gun.
I much prefer my 1911 in .45. I need to get it out more.
The 1911 10mm Tisas Yukon has me enamored right now....I may have to try one.

Until then...it's one of these two.

Top is a Colt/Walther .22. Heavy, full size fixed barrel- surprisingly inaccurate. I mounted a junk light to it to make it tactical, bro.
Bottom is a Tisas Stingray 9mm with a cheapo red dot and dovetail mount. I mounted it, trying to decide if I want to send the slide to be cut for a good optic.
I do.
That little thing is a hoot and, unlike the Colt, very accurate with a variety of ammo.

Picked up a Tisas 1911A1 yesterday. That's number four. Did have five but sold one.
Needs a teardown, cleaning, lube. Should get some range time with it next week. Gotta try out the SD rounds.
Edit: Also have a Ruger, Colt, and Rock Island.

Edit again:
Range day. See if suitable for carry - short answer Yes.
Started with 50 rounds ball ammo using one of the Mec-Gar magazines and a Wilson Combat 47C (7 rounds) magazine. The Mec-Gar had several feed failures, the 47 no problems. Put the Mec-Gar away after three loads and dug out another Wilson 47.
Next up 100 rounds of Federal jacketed hollow-point, 230 grain, using the Wilson 47 mags. No problems, ran through all 100 with no failures.

The Mec-Gar mags are in the trash.

The Tisas goes in the rotation.
Happy with the purchase.

SInce we all love 'em, 1911's of course and the .45 is the premier cartridge....here's a little poetry from Stebins classic '60's tome, "Pistol's - A Modern Encyclopedia". I memorized it "semi-automatically' for my 10th grade English class...teacher was NOT amused. Best Regards, Rod

LINES TO MY LADY.45

For wide open spaces, a rifle's all right,
Where there's time, space, and distance, with plenty of light,
But for work on the instant, when the shooting is tight,
You can't get the slant with a rifle.

So I'll say at times it is all very well,
But for deviltry, death, and the raising of hell,
The Colt .45 is unusually swell
And will go where you can't with a rifle.

You can splatter a dollar at seventy feet,
With a stunning precision that's pleasing and neat;
And I'll still make the claim that the Colt can't be beat
It will do what you can't with a rifle.

So when something is crashing the alders ahead,
And it's death to the brute, or you in its stead,
Let the Colt automat, the fist-filling gat, the chunky blue cat,
Chuck its competent lead.

No doubt about old Clint's feelings for a 1911.....but....that pistola sure looks like its slide has the pinched front of a Hi Power & the dust cover of a 1911?....though the magazine appears to be a 1911....Camera angle?
camera angle…. but that does look like a High Power! HUMMMM???

were’s the Poem from! it’s NICE

Harry M. Stebbins wrote "Pistol's - A Modern Encyclopedia" in the late 50's & early 60's. Published by Stackpole in '61, it covers most all available handguns available at that time, with a short write up on each model. He had some collaborators with a wide variety of interests and experience who wrote various chapters. It's a wonderful read all by itself, with a comprehensive look into the past.

I view it along with Keith's "Sixguns" as a reading source for their expertise. Long out of print, a quick look on Amazon shows one for sale for $10 if I read the ad correctly. Stebbins also wrote one on rifles from the same period...well worth the search for a shooter's library.

The poem is from that book, but I don't know the author. It still rings the bell for me.....Rod

I had a Kart slided Colt .22lr.
For iron sight gun, doubt could get much better.
Alas, its ild age and optics now.
Bye bye.

A Sig target 1911 ( no rail ), in 45.acp was cool, but wished they nade it in 10mm. See some Delta Elites now available. Hmmm
