Mike,
Well the first problem is , you still have "Mopar" attached your username.
Told you back in '09[tm] you needed to change that.
Called "Life" and "Priorities". Yes is sucks because it sounds so "responsible" and "mature-like".
Just growning pains, like the human body does with getting bigger, bones and muscles, ache and throb. The body is not developed until about age 16, brain, digestive, bones, muscles....About age 36 the body stops being as efficient as it was from 16-36. So the aches, pains come back again. You cannot eat spicy foods and you miss the soda can you mean to kick and bust your butt.
Seriously. The 'tailbone' [ last few vertabrae] of a kid are not fused until age 5. That is why a 2 year old can bend the way they do. The adults get a backache just watching the kid.
Anticipation of attainment. Quanity. Attention.
-We "Have to" catch a limit of fish. Instead of having fun and enjoying the day.
-Ditto with hunting. Gotta have the limit, the biggest, the longest shot, the...the
-Opposite Sex, one finally "gets that date". Lots of time the best part of the whole deal was chasing/ being chased. During the date - "what a jerk? will this date e-v-e-r end?"
Gun shows:
I quit attending the local ones a long time ago. Many of my old friends are gone now. The old dealers and businesses are gone. Mom&Pop Gun stores, owners died.
Last local I attended, just to meet some folks from out of town, seemed like a good place to meet. We visited outside and shot the breeze, admired the lab puppies. Eventually went inside to get ice cream. Oh- and one granddaughter reminded grandpa she "only have 2 bricks of .22 ammo left"
She got 3 more, and Grandma bought her a new knife, she will have grow into the knife, still just a Case Camper for sentimental reasons.
Tulsa- make plans to attend the Tulsa show.
That one will re-instill faith in 'gun shows'. I have no idea how good the ice cream or beef jerky is. I was too busy handling EVERY 28 ga shotgun the joint had. I have a witness- I didn't miss a one.
I was drooling over a table of Model 27's, went bonkers over all the Gov't 1911s...and was like a kid in a candy store with all the USGI 1911 parts. I think maybe some hinges wore out on the plexi- cases from the folks opening them and getting stuff out for me to look at.
Make plans, something to look forward to. Bring toll money, and play money.
I'll be around the Shotguns,[ especially 28 ga] books, 1911s, BHPs , OLD S&Ws...there will be a short guy trying to keep up with me as last time. Larry is a lot of fun...he just needs longer legs to keep up.
Many a time I have gone fishing with a cane pole and never baited a hook, some of my best "fishing" was done this way.
Many a time I never fired a shot while hunting. Many times did not even take a long gun. Great 'hunting' experiences.
Too many times I arrived at range, never shot, I had too much fun assisting someone to shoot, teaching a kid, loading the trap machine, or digging in the trash for more soda cans for a kid to shoot.
Naps in the bed of my truck, or clubhouse porch with my newest bestest friend - a kid's dog - waiting , nudging " you got anymore peppermint in that pocket of yours?"
