I thought Chicago was a "gun free zone"?

I was browsing the internet and found this article from the Chicago Tribune. Sounds like the windy city "gun free zone" isn't working that well.

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...-surge-homicide-toll-chicago-homicide-victims

According to this website

and

Chicago has had 17 gunshot deaths since Sandy Hook. Where is the media outcry to have something done?

My prayers go out to the Thomas family.

Yeah, and now those same Chicago #@$%&# are trying to push their garbage through the State House onto the rest of the state!

Multiple bills were passed out of the Senate's "Safety Committee" to the full Senate. If passed, these bills would ban even pump shotguns & rifles, and ANY rifle with a detachable magazine, INCLUDING the Remington 7400.

Those CRETINS never learn, do they?

maybe so... on paper... but it's certainly not a corruption free zone! or a criminal free zone...
it's a sick symbiotic relationship between the corrupt politicians (i know it's redundant) and the thugs... the politicians need crime to rule over citizens... the thugs need immunity and prisons with revolving doors... why people choose to stay there... is beyond me... the armpit of America.

A very sobering article, my prayers go to the Thomas family as well.
The article has so many discussion points in it that it almost defies logic:
- the superintendent of Police blames the proliferation of guns on the street? In a gun-free city? What?
- the murder suspect and the driver both have prior felonies? I don't understand how that didn't prevent his getting another gun? Doesn't he know it's illegal?
- they have disbanded 2 units of fast-responders who used to swarm and disperse the gang activity. And now the murders are inching upwards again.

Some. People. Do. Bad. Things.
Please allow our citizens the chance to protect themselves.
Just a chance; that's all we ask.

Instead of "Gun free zones", we need to call them "Gun denial zones".

As in, law-abiding citizens suffer gun denial, or
When accused, gang bangers practice gun denial, or
Chicago politicians who think gun control actually works are in gun denial.

I really hate my state.

I was shopping for real estate in Indiana yesterday after they pulled that crap in the Senate.

I found a 6,200 sq. ft 5 bedroom 4 bath house on 8.9 acres just south of Indy for $240K. That's 1400 sq. foot, one bedroom, and 6.6 acres more than I have now for the same price my house appraised at.

And I could own machineguns.. suppressors.. carry a weapon in public...

Amazing that just 80 miles to the east, if I move from one lousy corn field to another, I could do all that stuff.

^ That's awesome but kind of sad at the same time. I wish all states had the same laws. It's getting ridiculous these days.
