My brother in-law decided to get into reloading shotguns a few years ago and after a few hundred rounds decided it was not worth it.

Well he gave his press and all the extras that go with it to me this weekend.

Looks like I have something new to learn. I have never loaded for shotgun but I am always willing to learn.

I was given a LEE Load-all II with all the extras. It can load 12,16 and 20 Gage so looks like we shall get started?

It can only load one gauge without a conversion kit to change it over to another guage.

I thinks it's simpler to just buy another one for a different guage then trying to change it back & forth all the time.

As rc said, it can only do one gauge at a time and they aren't all that expensive, so if you want to do multiple gauges, just go out and buy another one.
Personally i've never used the lee load all, but I heard it works just fine and for the price of free you can't beat it

I started over 30 years ago on one of those, and quickly moved to a MEC once I needed more than 10-12 boxes I previously loaded for hunting uses as I started clay target shooting.

If you're reloading for some hunting loads or similar, it should an OK job. I do not find the unit to be sturdy enough for high volume reloading, nor did I find the bushings to be quite as accurate.

You'll need recipes from a manual, and you'll still need to occasionally check powder drops and shot drops.

Shotgun, like metallic has specific recipes, including the need top use the proper hull and wad to go with the correct primer and powder

Heck I only shoot for sport and nothing special. I would be reloading for 12 and 20 gage and that would be all. I have a couple hundred hulls put away ( did not want to throw them away ) So I will just be reloading for fun and learning for now.

It won't work on it's side like that! It has to be stood up.

the bushings are famous for throwing lighter than listed powder charges,and once they're installed u have to empty the hoppers to change them,fyi.
I've loaded mmany hundreds on mine,they work fine.
all hulls are not the same,so recipes shouldbe followed as stated above.
Once u get the hang of it,u can load a shell in under 30,maybe 40 seconds,
It'l last a long long time.

Congratulations on the freebie. I've loaded a lot of shells on mine, the first version, over the years. Like you, I don't need to make tons at a time, just 4 or so boxes for casual shooting. Not sure if I save money that way but I enjoy the process.
