STUDENT has toy pistols in bag

SEREMBAN: Police picked up a Form One student after finding five toy pistols in his schoolbag here yesterday.

Sources said a teacher felt something amiss when one of his students behaved suspiciously in class.

After alerting the school principal who called in the police, the student was frisked and the five pistols were found inside his bag.

He was immediately taken into custody.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Musa Hassan confirmed that toy guns were found in the student's bag.

Over in Malaysia and Singapore, realistic looking toy guns/replica firearms are "scheduled items". That means that they are tightly controlled and the authorities have the right to decide whether or not you can own them.

For example, a replica flintlock pistol might be ok if bought from a licensed distributor but a metal airsoft glock 17 would very possibly be illegal.
