Does anyone know Idaho's handgun laws.
I would like to travel into idaho with a handgun in my truck however do not know what the law is?
Thanks

1) There is always the FOPA, you can seach on that here or in general on the internet and it covers you when you are traveling. Though if you are stopping in Idaho and vacationing/visiting, you need to follow their laws as you are not longer "passing through." FOPA = Firearm Owners Protection Act (1986 I believe).

You need to pay attention to the fact you have a truck, without a trunk, and thus may require a locked, hard sided container for those states that don't allow open car carry. A locked trunk suffices for the FOPA, but nowadays many vehicles, and obviously trucks, don't have that (unless you have a locakable work box in the bed).

2) The very cool interactive maps at opencarry.org (OCDO for short) are usually very through and complete for all US states and territories:

Most of Idaho is gorgeous; welcome to the forum and have fun.

Open carry is allowed in vehicles or on your person, without a permit (assuming you're not a convicted felon or whatever).

"Open" is not well-defined, but relatively lenient.

Concealed carry is allowed without a permit outside city limits while engaging in any lawful outdoor activity.

To carry a gun unloaded and concealed in the vehicle, just have it out of the "grabbable area". In a soft case, unloaded and under the truck seat should be fine.

Do you have a CCW permit from another state?
