I'm thinking Webley-Fosbery Self-Cocking Automatic Revolver, a specially-made Ultradot with a polished brass tube on top, and a carbide miner's lamp under the barrel.

Thoughts?:D

Awesome idea, impractical for carry. There's a lot of hate for steampunk, but it's your gun. Make it look awesome.

Dude, so weird you should post this. My Rossi is a bubba special, and I just mentioned to my wife the other day how awesome it would be to have a functional steampunk revolver... not for carry, but for the heck of it.

If you decide to go ahead with this, let's see some pics! And I'll post pics of mine.

As has been mentioned in online reviews, the 1895 Nagant revolver is just itching for a steam punk make over:D They are old world enough to have charm, but mass produced enough to almost look hastily forged on an anvil. Plus they have that cool forward moving cylinder....and they're cheap;)

Go for It.

Not something I would want to spend the resources on. I would not fault anybody for doing it. I'd like to see it. I often admire what other people do, even when it is not my thing.
I always seem to find some aspect of a project interesting. I have seen some God awful rifle mods. But those same mods had some info I could extrapalate and use elsewhere. The wealthiest guy I know calls it R&D. Rip-Off & Duplicate.
I'm the same way about shooting disciplines. Benchrest is not my thing. I will ask a BR shooter all kind of questions. Even if I just pick up a case lube tip I'm happy.

Or a C96 broomhandle Mauser.

This thread actually made me think, gosh, I need a 1911 with a burnished bronze finish...

...and a steam gauge that shows hom much ammo you have left...

+ 1 for the 1895 Nagant.

Extra mechanical action, Distinct look, Historical in it's own way, plus it already screams to have the aftermarket cylinder thrown in. It's nearly already there.

Perhaps an oversized lens sight on top? Machine a long barrel onto it and turn it into a Buntline Nagant?

endless possiblity

What's wrong with steampunk?

Maybe the "tacticool" types and the people who paid silly money to have iPhones the first day they came out actually realize that "steampunk" is a form of performance art intended, among other things, to mock them?

Then again, maybe they don't.

I was totally thinking about steampunk-style guns the other day. I was also thinking the Nagant Revolver was perfect for this.

From my experience the "tacticool" guys and the iPhone guys are two wholly different groups, the latter of which is typically HEAVILY into steampunk type things.

I still think a Webley 455 (converted to .45acp and cut down to snub nose length) is the ideal "Steampunk" CCW piece. Just make sure you load it with low pressure loads.

Or if you're going to "roll your own" see if you can't find a Webley in .577

Can you convert a Webley #2 Bulldog to .45acp?

I was looking at my Rossi last night, actually, and wondered about the feasability [spelling?] of putting brass inserts on the cylinder, to make it smooth and round... does that make sense?

Regarding CobyClark's lower pic..I like the 90-degree phono plug jack screwed to the side of the pistol. I wonder what it sounds like through a Marshall stack.

What the heck is "steampunk" anyway?

Steampunk is an aesthetic thing....

people who yearn for gears and wheels and steam, smooth copper fittings etc find ways to bring the old look and functions into modern items.

Making a modern keyboard that has the appearance of a vintage typewriter
would be an example.

It's a touch of Rube Goldberg, a dash of shining metal, and a lot of work.
