CleanDean:
The Model 58 .41 Magnum Military & Police was manufactured from 1964 to 1977. The Serial number should have an S prefix (1964-69) or an N prefix (1969 to 1977). the numbers you have quoted are probably assembly numbers used to track parts in the factory. These are often stamped under the cylinder yoke cut, where newer guns will have a serial number. The serial number on your gun will be found on the bottom edge of the grip frame. Get back to me with the number and I'll date it for you.
a) caliber 32
b) bbl length (from cylinder to muzzle) 3 1/2 inches
c) grips shape (round or square) round
d) number of shots/cylinder bores 5
e) type of sights. Integrated
f) serial number, and if there is a letter in front of or anywhere near the s/n on the bottom of the grip 181910
g) Model number if it is under the crane. n/a
Thanks Radagast. I don't know why I asked about the 21-4 other than "force of habit." I knew it was somewhere in the '04-06 range. The seller had told me they only made a few with a nickel finish (which this one has).
Again, I knew the 27-9 was fairly recent manufacture, I just really didn't think it was that new. I got it from the "used" counter, as far as I could tell, unfired out of the factory, but with no box or papers.
a) caliber - .32 S&W long
b) bbl length - snub
c) grips shape - square
d) number of shots/cylinder bores - 6
e) type of sights - fixed
f) serial number H- 1464xx
g) Model number 31-1
I just had to have this old pistol cause it reminded me of fancy pistols back when I was a kid.
