It's come to this in nj:

http://c.ymcdn.com/sites/anjrpc.site-ym.com/resource/resmgr/DS-Email/MEMORANDUM_Feb_8.pdf

23 bills that include seizures and in-home inspections. My God, the LAST thing I want to consider is having to make a choice between my life and my guns - I am a public school teacher of 12 years with a young family- but I believe in the necessity of the 2nd amendment too.

Are we just going to hope local/federal enforcement doesn;t make good on another law?

I know this isn't the response you want to hear but realize you have the option to move to a gun (freeedom) friendly state.

If you say yeah but...job, family, etc. your making the decision to pay for the insane laws to be implemented and enforced.

I am also watching these events in other places and will plan accordingly.

I'd rather live poorer and free than wealthy and enslaved. YMMV

Let them take your guns, then sue them until their eyes bubble.

That was part of the reason I moved from Tennessee to the west coast! Not the only one as Tennessee gun laws were reasonable, the west seems to be more free. Maybe just bigger!

I tend not to do "tin foil" or "hits the fan", but look at the EU, especially France, Greece, Italy, and Spain. Their economic problems have led to some significant localized unrest and civil disobedience issues in the last several years. Some of them would have been difficult to control had the populace been armed.
A few major US municipalities have already had to lay off workers or enact other austerity mesdures in civil infrastructure toward the end of their fiscal cycles. None have actually been unable to police themselves yet, but if our economy took another fall in the next few years, it could happen. I'm not talking about national catastrophe, but very substantial localized breakdown of law and order. Imagine, say, Detroit with over half its police force unwilling to work without pay. Imagine any major city in a state like CA that can't afford to bail them out.
The National Guard would come into play. Restrictions on movement and speech would be seen ad necessary .... and you can see why Cali politicians would prefer widespread civilian disarmament take place BEFORE something like this happens.

We just had a long, rather heated, "Cold Dead Fingers" thread which explored one angle of your question: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=700629

If it comes down to it, many will turn them in rather than become felons. Many will try to hide them, or take them out of state and store them at a friend's place in PA or somewhere. (Possibly violating federal law in the process, re: transfer across state lines.)

One or two may indeed decide this is the time to die for the cause.

It is our 2nd amendment right, I will never give these hitler want to be's any of my guns...We as American's must remember behind every blade of grass lay's a gun....

It all depends on what the majority of gun owners do.....we know from example, ie Canada's efforts at mandatory registration, that non compliance can be so prevalent, that it makes the law become invalid. If NO ONE obeys the law, it becomes unenforceable and the politicians will repeal it to save their jobs. If enough people comply....well......time to move. Hope your wife is an understanding woman. High Road mods.....I am in no way advocating for disobeying laws. Just wanted to provide relevant examples.

If that mail order ammo ban passes, looks like the Ammoman might have to pull up stakes and move.

Speak with your feet and wallet so you might avoid acting with your hands...

What do we do?

1.) Talk to your Sheriff and make sure he's committed to the oath he swore to the Bill of Rights. The number of Sheriffs who have publicly said they will stand with their people against any form of unlawful gun control laws is well over 300 and growing.

2.) Spend your money at pro gun locations and financially support pro gun organizations and public servants. Boycott businesses that are on the wrong side of the sand.

3.) If you live in a bankster ran, police state mega city (New York, Chicago etc.) get out and relocate to a free(er) state/county.

4.) Get your co-workers, poker buddies, family members, and anyone else who has the capacity for understanding how sacred, how important the right to self defense is involved.
