Started to put this in Political but there are some things in the story that have general appeal. From The Outdoor Channel website:

    Two comments.
It's great to see a Congress and President giving federal land back to the people instead of taking it to please the enviro-wacko types. And for a shooting range to boot! Way to go Mr. President!!:D:D

Second is the survey result from NSSF! 55 million potential new shooters, hunting buddies, RKBA advocates, just waiting for someone to open the door to the club and invite them in!!!

This should be a wake up call to all of us to get out there and talk to people. Wouldn't it be great to see an open house event at a range or shooting club, in partnership with your local gun shop and NRA/GOA reps, where people could come in and try shooting and meet see that the gunowners are normal everyday members of the community.

    Sooooo,
With land just laying out here in Texas our Native Son puts the first "free range" in another state?????

Let me see....I know there was a reason I voted for him....(':scrutiny:')
Now..... what on Earth was that reason...????

Oh well I'm sure it will come to me.

    Selfdefnz,

Has anyone in Texas actually asked? If you reread the details of this article it started at the local grassroots level and slowly worked its way up through the various agencies to the presidents desk.

GW can't do anything for you if he doesn't know what you need. Fire up the old word processor and send a letter off to your congressman. Be proactive.

    YeeHawww!
    George Dub-yuh done good.

Now folks in Nevada can buy their own ammo and use it at the new range. That way, when the good people in the US of A go off to fight the terrorists, it does'nt cost so much to get their shooting scores up to snuff. ;)
Really though, I think he did a really cool thing!

The difference is that most of Texas is private property. Can't give that to the State, now can he???
Out here in the Wild, Wild West, alot of land is public (BLM) land. Most of Utah, Nevada, and AZ is actually Public lands, administered by the BLM, NPS, or some other group....
