If you completely lost all of your firearms what would you buy?

M&P9 compact, M&P.45 full size, Kahr PM9, Ruger MKII.
AR15 (S&W or Daniel Defensea), Kimber 84 Classic in .308, CZ 452 American.
Rem 870s, 1 with 18" and 1 with 28" barrel, Rem 1100 in 20 gauge.

That would be my initial restock. Of course I'd need lots of ammo and accessories too.

Interesting question. I have quite a few antique rifles (mostly WW2 stuff) that I doubt I'd replace. It was fun accumulating them and I intend to keep them for now, but I don't think I'd do it all over again if they were all somehow lost. Similarly, I'd not replace guns that I've kept for sentimental reasons, simply because they're inherently irreplaceable and getting a another gun of the same make and model would just not be the same. I also have a few guns in the collection that are basically redundant, so I wouldn't rush to replace those either.

In the end, here are the basic firearms I'd replace. I'm actually a little shocked at just how short the list is.

1) an AR15
2) a compact 9mm handgun
3) a 12-gauge pump shotgun
4) a scoped Remington 700
5) a Ruger 10/22
6) a semiauto .22 handgun

I would replace my XD45 Tactical with another XD45 Tactical...

My Glock 27 with another Glock 27...

My Taurus 905 9mm with a 3" Ruger SP101 .357 magnum...

My S&W 637 .38 with an XD45 compact.

I like my stuff, I think I'd buy it all back. I'd be more finicky about the condition of the barrel in my Mosin and I'd make sure the Marlin 60 had a *$^&# magazine tube this time. Aaaaand I think I'd save up a few more pennies and get a fat barrel on the Rem700. But otherwise, I don't think the neophyte would be able to tell one collection from the other.

I think I would immediately buy my CC pistol, My AR, and a my Shotgun (probably my SxS). But I would like to get it all back eventually. I could do without my Mossber 88 and my Mini 14 but everything else is a have to have.

Are we talking about a natural disaster or some such where your renters/homeowners/property insurance reimburses you? If we are, would this insurance company pay you what those firearms cost now, or how much you paid for them?

Depends on the company, for theft I got 1k coverage for anything else it’s replacement.

According to my agent they replace with the least expensive available, so if you claim 12 gauge pump you’ll get a Mossberg instead of the model 12 you lost.

That's why I've started taking pics of everything (not just the firearms) and writing down serial #s to keep in the fireproof safe.

Come to think of it, while I'd get busy replacing Glocks and Kimbers first, (as per my earlier post) I might not replace some of these unfired "safe queens"...AR's, bolt hunting rifles, even some handguns...while I may have more than I need, I don't have as many as I want...strange, huh...? Probably need to sell some...naw.....

Definitely the Pardner Pump from NEF for its durability and versatile nature. Cheap as hell and shoots reliably. After I build up my bankroll I'd replace my Marlin 336 (though I couldn't replace the beautiful pre-1984 walnut stock) and round out the stable with a S&W.

You could also email a document (and photos) to yourself. If everything in my house is destroyed, at least that type of stuff will be stored on gmail's server. Not bad to do for irreplaceable photos etc either. They won't be original, but at least I'll be able to have new prints made of the image.

Extra insurance and all, by the time I replaced my Colts and my Luger I suspect I'd be running short of funds. Some of my stuff just isn't easy to replace.

I'm pretty satisfied with the choices I have made over the years. But this is a priortized list and the buying would probably follow this path more of less if I were starting from scratch today. Let's assume that a house fire happened and all my firearms were destroyed. I would eventually buy quite a few 22 rifles, but they would follow other calibers and choices.

(1) 22 rifle; probably a Marlin Model 60.
(2) 22 pistol; either Ruger Mark II/III or Browning Buckmark
(3) 270 win rifle; probably Remington M700 BDL for deer hunting
(4) Carry gun; probably Smith 442/642
(5) 41 mag; Model 57 Smith
(6) 22 Revolver; probably Smith Model 17 or 4" Colt Diamondback
(7) 357 mag revolver; Colt Trooper Mark III
(8) 12 ga shotgun; probably Browning pump
(9) 12 ga shotgun; probably Remington 870 Police w/ extra rifled barrel
(10) 357 mag revolver; 3" Ruger GP-100 (field and home defense)
(11) Glock M23
(12) Ruger Mini-14 w/ 10 Ruger mags
(13) Remington 547
(14) Remington 541-S

Some of these are on my buy list. The list is almost 50-50 long guns versus handguns.
