If you could have only one .38 / 357...

Yup, I own two Taurus, one Ruger GP 100, and One S&W Model 10. I would pick a Ruger, or a S&W any day of the week over a Taurus because I now know the difference in the Triggers Between the Three.

After buying my nickle Taurus 66, I sold my Security Six. I'll never sell my Smith and Wesson M10, though. The Taurus is WAY more accurate with .38 loads and just as accurate with .357 as was the Security Six, in fact, a tad more accurate (by a half inch) than the M10. The Taurus trigger was better out of the box than the Ruger, as good as the Smith, but I trimmed the hammer spring and slicked up the Security Six and it was pretty nice after i did that. But, for reasons of accurate and built quality, I prefer the Taurus....scoff if you must, but it's true. Now, it's not as rugged a gun as the Ruger, but the frame and round forcing cone are more rugged than my old M19 Smith. I just prefer it and that's why I kept it as a 4" .357 outdoor carry and the others are gone.

For CCW, I still prefer the SP101 to about anything in this caliber. That thing is a little tank, far stronger design than the Security Six, probably why Ruger dumped the Security Six. Now, I may, in the future, pick up a 4" adjustable sight version of the SP101 for outdoor carry, but the Taurus does a fine job. In stainless, and tough as it is, you won't need worry about the SP101 holding up in outdoor use, though. The trigger is less than great out of the box, but a Wolff spring helps and it is pretty smooth with a little use.

I Put 100 rounds of 148 wadcutters through my Service Six this weekend. Rather surprised how well it performed. Tough choice between this and my Security Six (slight advantage to the Service Six with the wadcutters).

Would be a tough call. I like my revolvers. Strike that love those machines.
A(colt trooper .357 6")
B(colt trooper mk iii 4")
C(smith mod 65 4")
D(smith mod 13-3 4")
E(colt army special 4")
F(colt police pos spl 4")
G(smith mod 14-3 6")
H(colt detect spl 2")
I(smith mod 36 2")
J(rossi 38 3")
I love round wheelguns. If I had to pick it would be the 6" trooper.

Real world: Colt King Cobra 4" stainless, bought it back when they were reasonably priced, my all time favorite handgun.....

Fantasy Island/Big Lottery Win: Phillips & Rogers Medusa Model 47

I have a Colt Trooper MKlll 4 " in 38/357 I have carried on many hunting trips and it recoils with authority with 158g factory loads. My wife shoots a S&W 686 4" that handles that load with a lot less punishment. I admit there is over 30 years between the purchase of the guns.

Only one ? I think I'll keep my S&W PERFORMANCE CENTER 627-3, no lock .357 MAG V-8 with the 5in. bbl. Ported, can use moon clips, 8 shots, better trigger than both of my Pythons, it shoots .38 S&W spl. like .22lr. It will go last ! :)

Blackhawk 357/9mm w/6.5" barrell. I have other guns that could serve other functions. But if I could only have 1 357 it would need to be a range (read fun) gun.

No gun is more fun than the Blackhawk.

LOL.....
I just mentioned in another thread that I just ordered the exact same revolver earlier tonight.
;)

I'll stay with my Dan Wesson 15-2. With all the different barrel lengths and grip choices, it's about all I need in a. 357.

I have a 76 model service six and a Colt Mark III Border Patrol. The Colt is heavier but the trigger is outstanding. It would be hard to choose only one but I guess that's a nice predicament to have.

I would take a S&W 581 and have the barrel cut down to 3" and slab sided with a gold bead front sight added, round butt the grip frame and moon clip it, with service grips and a Tyler T grip adapter.

Korth.

I would sell it and buy one example of all the rest.

I am certain that you do not have a Korth. I do. I also have a Python since 30 years in the back of my safe, a good dozen of S&W revolvers and some Rugers.

The Korth has a trigger pull that just cannot be duplicated by a stock gun, unless they put the trigger on roller bearings.

Quality and quantity are not the question here but which one would be the only revolver. Make mine a Korth, next in line an MR73.

When I bought my .357 my intention was to only have one. At least for quite a while. Its been probably better than 15 years and I still have it, a 4" GP100. Not currently looking for another so I guess thats my answer.

If I could only have one. This King Cobra has over 10,000 rounds sent down range. I trust it to do what I ask of it. It is the one.

4" Ruger Security Six

Set aside my Python when I got the Sec. Six and rarely shoot it anymore. Got a super nice 686 later on, but it doesn't see much use either. Thought a GP100 might be similar; it wasn't even close and is gone now.

The 3" SP101 does come close in some respects, but is small for my hands with sights that give me great difficulty. On those rare occasions when I can get a good sight picture, it will shoot as accurately as the Sec. Six.

The Sec. Six is always ready to go and almost always within reach.

If you mean ANY, then a Korth Combat Magnum.
Till I win the lottery, I'm more than happy with my S&W R8.
