If you had $20,000 to spend on firearms, what would you get?

Well, if the money just fell into my lap like that, I would probably invest in a good solid concrete room with a really nice vault door. That would probably eat it all up. I don't really have the justification for it now (even if I did have the money), but there is always hoping.

One of my dad's friends had a set up like that, only he had two rooms. One to store Randall Knives and the other to store his collection of machine guns. I never got to see it myself, as he lived far away, but my dad spent quite a few weekends up there as you can imagine.

Interesting question. I've asked it before elsewhere in the form of "if all your current guns were lost and you got an insurance check for the value, how would you replace them?"

I like the ideas about a good, large safe and top-quality reloading equipment. Definitely good suggestions. With a Dillon 1050 costing $1500 and a bullet feeder being another $500, I could easily see dropping $5k of the $20k into reloading equipment alone with complete heads for .45, 9mm, 5.56 and 7.62 and the associated stands etc.

Another $2k minimum for a good safe.

Then it would be a trio of Noveske N4s (assuming they eventually come out with a 10.5) which would run right around $10k for the trio with accessories and optics, oh and a can.

That leaves $3k, which I'd likely spend on a few Glocks in various sizes/calibers. A trio of 9mms (17, 19, 26) which would use up about $2k with sights and holsters, leaving $1k or so for a .45 or 10mm with associated magazines and holsters.

If I had just a tiny bit more, maybe another $3k, I'd opt for a Wilson Combat CQB fullsize in 9mm and a compact aluminum in .45; one for shooting one for carry.

Only $20K, eh?

M16 or a Thompson

If you would have said more like $60K, I would have said an M60!

A Side by Side

I'd get a fine English or Spanish double, custom fitted to my dimensions. With only 20k, I'd probably have to 'settle' for a Spanish gun, from the Basque region.

NIB or LNIB S&W 36 or 37. ($6-800)

Decent 1911. ($6-800)

Glock 26, Glock 17 [(already have a 19), ($1100)]

Ruger Gp100 3" ($550)

Magazines, speedloaders and ammo for the above: $4250*

-------------------------------------

Decent Ak-47 ($5-700)

Kel-tec Sub-2000 G17 grip ($400)

LNIB Yugo SKS [(with cosmo cleaned off),($400)]

Marlin 1894c ($450)

ammo, magazines for all the above: $5550*

*$5000 would be snuck away as charity money. I'd say I'd buy more guns with it then would give $1000 each to 5 organizations.

1. A good quality custom 1911 pattern .45 ACP pistol $2,500
2. Some type of a stainless steel SA/DA 4" barreled .357 Mag wheel gun $600
3. A few screw on suppressors (2-.22RF and 1 - 9mm) $2,000
4. Assorted magazines / accs. (Glock, Ruger, AR15, etc) $1000
5. Bolt action .50 caliber rifle $5000
6. .50 Caliber ammo $2000
7. A few scopes / optics $2000
8. Some type of rifle mounted night vision sight $1000
9. Assorted ammunition $1900
10. Assorted pistol holsters, gun cases, and small safe, $1000
and 11. with about 1K left I'd take a Cabellas or Bass Pro Shop gift card for that amount

50 cal. $5000
Bushmaster AR15 $1000
Fine glass for most of my rifles $2500
Browning Citori O/U 28ga $2000
Remington 1100 410 $700
Kimber .45 $1200
Several S&W revolvers $1500
A much larger safe $2000
ammo $2100
A 30-06, type to be determined... $2000

crap... I need a new slug gun, and a Marlin 45-70 too!! OH well, I guess I can buy those out of my own meager income at a later date ;)

Accuracy International AI-AW
The rest would go to buying reloading components, ammunition, magazines, and training.

Accuracy International AW re-chambered to .260 Remington. Nightforce Scope. Reloading setup and components for .260 Remington. Spare barrel or two, threaded and topped with a suppressor.

I'm thinking this would run about $12-$15K.

Next up would be a Benny Hill Benelli M2.

Anything left over goes to MGM or Larue Tactical for steel targets.

Wilson Custom Super Grade, and a H&K MP5A3SD!!! and a bunch of ammo for both but mostly for the MP5.....full auto of course...

To start off another safe or two, but like the idea of a hidden concert gun room to start with.

Then another AR or two, all tricked out... stock pile ammo for all the guns I have. New reloading press set up for everything I reload.

Then if any money left, which I doubt, get a couple investment guns.

As I read the replies, seems we're all on the same page.
