If you're gonna do something dumb, why not videotape it...

Only time I would ever volunteer being shot at is if I'm wearing Level IV and the round is a .22 Colibri.

Fired by Carlos Hathcock.

From seven miles away.

Behind a rock.

You know that if anyone had been seriously hurt they would've been screaming bloody murder and probably would've tried to sue the manufacturer of the vest, gun, ammo, or all of the above. I'm sorry, but people are getting dumber all the time. The more you try to protect them from themselves, the more danger they'll find to put themselves into. I think it comes from a life without purpose and without consequences. People who have to struggle to survive don't have time for idiotic garbage like this.

Judging by the bruise the .22LR left, I'm guessing a .22 Magnum would have meant a trip to the hospital.

The shootee was probably also lucky that was a hollow point and most likely came apart in the vest. Do you think a solid may have made it through?

I can garuntee you the only thing that saved him was the fact that bullet was a hollow point and came apart in the vest. The vest in question is a Gen2 "Body Armor, Fragmentation Protective Vest" its basically rated to stop shell and grenade fragments not much more then that. It has no plates in it and generally they can be gotten at various army surplus stores because the US Military has determined they have passed their serivicable use. Granted kevlar is kevlar, but we all know that Aramid fibers used in kevlar lose effectiveness once they have been shot, and they shot that vest quite a few times before they under went the human test. This makes the attempt even more stupid then simply relying on surplus military gear, they just got real lucky.

New vests come with ceramic plates in them specifically designed to stop rifle/pistol rounds(rated to 7.62x39 go figure), but this model they were wearing was just crazy. The .22 ball doesnt dump a bunch of energy, and scientifically is rated as a Lvl I threat but certainly produces enough energy to penatrate a Gen2 Fragmentation Vest. I will pump out some numbers tommarow joules/psi and fabric ratings and such if your interested suffice to say these cats got lucky and its not a trick I would suggest they duplicate.

I think that all of them should get one and then simultaneously volunteer to be shot with a .44 Mag. .44 that's only twice a .22...no problem.

There is a big difference between a bullet resistant vest manufacturer and designer who is also knowledgeable about firearms testing one of his vests...and what these bozos did.

I have a better idea: Box of Truth style testing.

Line them up front to back and see how many it takes to stop a 30-06. Here shortly, I'll have an unlimited supply of young idiots I would to donate. We could test lots of ammo.

Snookay, the singer in Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Not sure which song.

Having worked in a gun store for the last 3 years, I have come to the conclusion that way too many idiots own guns.

Not saying that they should be banned, or regulated, but damn, the idiots make a strong case for it.

I wouldn't let someone shoot me with a capgun while wearing my Force One IIIA vest.

I can see where these kids got their misguided bravdo from though, IRT the vest. The flack vest is actually quite thick, but it is not a bullet resistant vest by any means.

That kid got lucky as hell.

I thought their trigger control while they "geared up" was pretty reasonable. Then I saw the backstop, the "hearing protection", and then... the Human Test...

Wow.

It's safe to say that people have a right to be idiots, and no law would have prevented them from doing that. I just hope that eventually that video gets around to someone who recognizes the participants.

The blatent disregard for any safety and firearms handling is near sickening. Idiots isn't a strong enough name for these kids. F'ing Morons would maybe be a start. Part of the problem is the inaccurate portrayal of things such as "bulletproof" vests in movies. Kids see some guy take a .50 AE round in center mass while wearing a soft armor vest, and the guy just gets back up and keeps going like he had some sort of forcefield, and kids think thats how it is. They can't seem to comprehend the fact that the kinetic energy has to go somewhere.
At least some movies are starting to show a more realistic version of what happens when you get shot in the chest while wearing a protective vest (i.e. broken or bruised ribs, getting the wind knocked out of you. etc)

That and its amazing how many people don't truely understand that there's really no such thing as a bullet "Proof" vest. People hear that and think it is just that. A magical vest that no bullets can penetrate, regardless of caliber, velocity, etc. Let's just hope these kids end up eating lead based paint chips or something so they don't hang around long enough to spread their stupidity.

I finally saw the video today.

Everyone involved with making this video should be trussed up like hogs and run over repeatedly with a steamroller.

Quick! Take them out before they reproduce!!!!
