This is a puzzling mish-mash of vague references (ie Verdugo-Irquidez v US, 1990 and various odd reflections on the Commerce Clause).

Is this a specific reference to GCA 1968?

Mexican man gets federal prison sentence for firearms
violation

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- An illegal immigrant from Mexico
has been given a 10-month federal prison sentence for
carrying firearms in the United States, authorities
said.

Jorge Ivan Estrada-Dorame, 24, of Sonora, pleaded
guilty to illegally carrying the firearms Aug. 10.

Authorities stopped Estrada-Dorame on April 25 while
he was driving a van in Nogales, Ariz., and found
three rifles.

The investigation found the firearms had been made
outside Arizona and transported into the state,
affecting interstate or foreign commerce.

Estrada-Dorame is a citizen of Mexico with no legal
authorization to carry firearms in the United States,
according to authorities.

18 U.S.C. 922 (g)

(g) It shall be unlawful for any person—

. . .

(5) who, being an alien—
(A) is illegally or unlawfully in the United States; or
(B) except as provided in subsection (y)(2), has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa (as that term is defined in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(26)));

. . .

to ship or transport in interstate or foreign commerce, or possess in or affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition; or to receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

Does 922 (g) date back to GCA 1968?

I'm trying to get some chronology.

Thanks,

Rick

This is like trying a car thief for failing to signal while changing lanes.

I'm waiting for the first person to post something along the lines of "inalienable rights are just that, regardless of citizenship status" and prove that individualism and universalism are really just two sides of the same coin.

What kind of sentence would I get if I had firearms made in another country that were not imported through the proper channels?

I could understand if he was here legally and he declared his firearms and our government said okay (just as some can while on cruises and have to check them with customs from what I hear), but he was here illegally so wouldn't that be trafficing (ie gun running)?

I seem to think I would be doing 10 years without sympanthy from anyone.
